Clarification - I am not looking necessarily to have cameras.

Just alarm and police notification if someone breaks in. So door and window security i guess

I use custom. They are good and local. 35 a month. It's through my cell phone, no land line here either.

Just had Custom install mine. Pay $35 a month for cell monitoring and ability to use phone app to set alarm. Installation was between $800-900 (11 windows, 3 doors, smoke and heat detector, motion detector).

Word of caution: THEY DRILLED THROUGH MY ROOF!!!!

I have Point Security. I love the system but feel like I pay too much a month now. I pay 60. It is cell phone based. Wifi sensors, thermostat and door lock. Uses Alarm.com.

How many doors and windows? Are you good at DIY projects? If so, you may consider installing the alarm yourself and go with a non-local monitoring company. You'll pay more up front, but a lower monitoring fee with no 3 year contract.
