If LSU wins the 2011 Natty, does Cam become our OC? Was that already in the works, or did it happen after the fact because Les knew that horrible offensive showing had to be fixed? Anyone know at what point the first talks between Les/Cam occured?

Les didn't hire Cam until after the next season and Cam was running the offense for the future Super Bowl winners, so I doubt if anything was in the works at that time.

I am sure however that Miles mulled a lot of scenarios when Krags got sick so who knows what was on his mind.

And yes I think we still would have had a new OC a year later even of we would have won the championship.

Our offense still sucked.

We didnt have a "real" OC. We found out about Krags illness and had to adjust on the fly. We didnt have a real OC til we hired Cam.

Did Les Miles conspire with John Harbaugh to can Cam at Baltimore a full year after the 2011 NC debacle and right before the Ravens Super Bowl run so LSU could hire him... don't think so.

I don't know if it had anything to do with it, but if the loss to Clemson sealed the deal, then it was worth it.

Obviously nothing like that happened

However, since they were already friends, there well could have been talks going on, even if they were like Cam giving advice to improve the offense or suggest a hire to Les.

That is exactly what happened. You just forgot the part about the payments to Harbaugh. My sources tell me it was in the 7 figure range. And a new pair of Wal-Mart khakis.

LM & Cam go way back. Guess they talked the day he was was fired; one on those, "Ever think about coming back to the college level" questions to test the water.

Twist of fate that a good hire like Kraig turned out the way it did & opened the door.

I think the word serious is way overrated in this case!

this, I'm sure they talked about it informally previously but no real discussions took place until he was let go.

I have no doubt that Cam got sick of the criticism and insecurity of an NFL job and took a look at Les making $4.3 million at LSU and job security and wanted to put himself in line to be the coach in waiting. And he still gets a comparable salary and access to athletes that for the most part are superior to most of their opponents.
