Germany: 253/256 = 98.82% chance of advancing
USA: 221/256 = 86.32% chance of advancing
Ghana: 36/256 = 14.06% chance of advancing
Portugal: 3/256 = 0.01172 chance of advancing

Guys, unless the soccer gods decide to go ayyyyy lmao all over the place on Thursday, I think we have a CLEAR two-team race

Let's just give a big frick you to the rest of the planet and beat Germany.

No collusion though, I don't trust those bastards.

Yeh, we're a likely favorite to advance, but 15% is nothing to scoff at.

I just hope Portugal has one decent game in them this tournament.

If Germany had beat Ghana we'd be about 10 points higher to advance at least.

i think we can beat Germany, we match up well with them. They don't have the speed on the outside to stop us on the wings, Fabian will be important to create.

I really hope so. I can and will go apesh!t if that goal ends up knocking us out. It pretty much cost us the group unless we beat Germany. Would have loved to have a no pressure game with them and get a draw to end on 7 points.

As long as we advance im cool with whatever happens. 86.33% seems like good odds.

So if we lose 3-0 and Portugal wins 2-0, then we have to draw lots?

Ho lee shite, can you even fathom how fricked we would be in that scenario?

I really think Portugal holding Ghana scoreless is the least likely scenario.

I agree. I think Ghana wins 3-1, which means we absolutely have to get points out of our match.

I am still flummoxed by the Americans' choice to be based in Sao Paolo given the stadium schedule of the group. Yeah the Manaus game was always going to be a trip, but seriously being based in SP is basically like having most of your games take place in the NE/Montreal (with the outlier in Calgary) and deciding to be based in Miami. It makes even less sense when you realize that the Group G second place will again play up in the NEastern quadrant in teh round of 16.

The G1 does have to hoof it to the most southern stadium in Port Alegre, but still, it seems like particularly crappy planning on the US's part. To put it in perspective, USA has something like 9000miles of travel in 2 weeks. Germany has around 2300.

Right? I have to admit that both of those results seem extremely probable

Except that Ghana loses one of their key offensive players and Portugal gets one of their key defensive players back. I don't know about the injuries for Portugal, but would any of them be back for this game?

Statistics huh? What was the likelihood of us drawing with one minute to play and Bradley controlling the ball today?

I'm going to guess 15% is greater

Portugal has almost nothing to play for. That's the worrisome part for me.

Pretty sure I heard that the US decided to be based in Sao Paolo before the groups were drawn/game locations set.

Why they would set a base before knowing where and when they were going to be playing is a completely different and valid question

I guess we'll see. I'll refrain from over the top negative comments. US just has to find a way to recover from Sunday. The Germans will be playing for a W.

Because everybody wanted that base camp, we had to jump on it.

Are they not just flying from one location to another? Seems to be the most logical. Finish game last night, stay in local hotel then fly out mid-day to site for Thursday game.

Ummm, there is the matter of practice field and access to other facilities (weight rooms, recovery pools, etc.) that is VERY important in these next few days.
