How deep is the water out there?
I was always under the assumption it was shallow enough to stand in.

The quicksand underneath the water is likely the bigger issue than its depth.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office said the men likely drowned. They were with a group of about 10 friends tubing on the river.

It usually is, however with heavy rain it can creep up to a dangerous level for sure... and fast moving, particularly if someone is intoxicated. (not saying they were, just that intoxication is a contributing factor frequently in these cases) RIP regardless, can't imagine what the families are going through

I was out there 2 weeks ago and there were a lot of spots I couldn't touch and I'm 6'4".... Its deep and fast right now

I haven't been tiki tubing in years but from what I remember... Some spots were pretty deep.

I know I took risks on the Bogue Chitto. I remeber when Bars were popular, some guy on the water gave us each two. I took both.
We woke up with the boat from the tubing place towing us in after we pased the bridge at the end.
Slept the whole trip, it rained too.
I knew that was risky and could have been really bad. After that I only drank on the river.

Its easy for things to get out of hand real quick out there.

Crazy whenever I hear of stories like this. When I went my tube was dragging on the rocks in some places. Then it gets very deep. It's still hard for me to understand how this happens. RIP

absolutely. I went with a broken arm and damn near went under a few times. plus no one is watching you. no staff is positioned along the way, nothing until you get to the end and climb back up the hill

Outside of bends are deep and fast.
Made faster with high water.
