Anyone own this phone or get to play with one? I was initially deciding between two other possible new phones, but I'm starting to lean towards this one.

Is the camera as great as advertised? I'm assuming it would come pretty compatible with my Xbox One?

My brother has one and loves it. The camera is excellent and it's crazy how much you can zoom into the photo after you take it. We were about 3/4 of the way up in the corner of the upper deck of CenturyLink Field once and he took a picture of the field completely zoomed out. When he was reviewing the photo, he could zoom in and see the numbers of all of the individual players.

Also, Windows 8.1 will be coming out for that phone in late July - early August.

No idea on the compatibility with Xbox One as he doesn't have one, but I'd assume so with Xbox SmartGlass LINK

While the Nokia windows phones undoubtedly take amazing pictures, many of their phones are criticized for their comically slow shutter speed. If you want to take fast action shows and capture something quickly, this might not be the phone for you. Having said that, I do not know the all nuances of this particular phone's camera.

I found this link: Lumia 1020 shot lag time

I have been increasingly interested in Windows phones.

I can attest to the camera's capabilities too. Friend's camera is scary good haha. I never focused on its shutter speed though.

It's a great OS but I wish the phones were more easily accessible. This carrier exclusive shite needs to stop

So my thought here is getting this phone and popping in a Straight Talk ATT Sim Card. Anyone use a Nokia on ST's network? I was reading some issues with getting the proper settings to send and receive MMS which has me a little concerned, but I believe they've worked around that.

Another question: should I buy the phone locked or unlocked? What are the perks of both? Remember, I'm currently an iPhone user and like simplicity.

well an unlocked phone will be significantly more expensive than a locked one. I believe it's fairly cheap to get an unlock code on ebay.

I guess my question is more: what are the perks of unlocking? Is it just for more customization? Any cons to unlocking a phone?

it allows you to use it on any GSM carrier and also oversees if the phone has those abilities.

it doesn't offer any more customization

no

Simple enough. So there would really be no advantage to an unlocked Lumia 1020 unless I were to take it abroad? I'd love to get one on Verizon's towers, but from my understand, that's not yet possible.

The only downside is the separate warranty. There aren't a lot of lumias out there. If it gets lost, stolen or broken, ausurion (insurance company) will try to replace it with something comparable if they don't have a refurb in stock (which they won't)

I bought two 2520's and one of my employees broke one. I thought no big deal, I bought the insurance so I'll pay the deductible and get it replaced. Wrong. Their comparable to my 10" 2520 is a 7" galaxy tab. The deductible is $199 but he tab sells for $159 at bestbuy. Plus that's an android device and I need a windows device for the software I run. We've been going round and round.

We'll that's shitty. Is that an issue through AT&T or an issue from buying offline with a separate insurer?

The only reason I'm leaning this route at the moment is because I want the photo power. That and since the XBONE took over the living room, it would be a nice added perk to use with it.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you really get any extra functionality with the XBone vs using Smartglass with any other phone.

After watching a good amount of reviews, I pulled the trigger. AT&T unlocked for just under $400 with free Prime shipping.

Can't wait to have a nice camera on hand at all times.

Sweet, let me know how it is. I am upgrading very soon and strongly considering a Windows Phone. The Lumia Icon went from 99 to 199 this week which pisses me off. I hope it drops sometime in the upcoming months because I can't stand my current phone.

I have a 920... Moved away from iphone4 and will never look back. The OS is awesome...never have issues, so smooth, live tiles are nice and wireless charging. Running 8.1 since I signed up for dev preview which is free.

Yeah, I'm getting off the iPhone 4 for this one. The 4 was my first and only iPhone, and I loved it, but I'm excited to try something new. Figure if I hate it(doubtful) I can always sell it and get the new iPhone.

i bought them from the AT&T store. The insurance they sell in store is through ausurion who also handles sprint, verizon, etc.

I've contacted my sales rep, hopefully being a premier business account has some perks. We'll see.

I was going to take whatever they offered and just buy another 2520 but I refuse to settle for anything less than a 10" tablet of equal value.
