I do get paid for doing my civic duty right?

I completed my jury service on Monday and was informed that I would receive $40. Was I supposed to get that on Monday or will they mail me a check? Never had jury duty before. TIA

I just tell them I recently moved. 30 years old and never did that crap. Like Im going to turn down my day rate ($450) for $40.

Thankfully the courthouse here is 2 blocks from my office, so when I did have some breaks during the day I could walk over and actually do some work. I was there 2 days total. My check basically covered my lunch the two days I was stuck in Jury Duty.
