Which of these groups is tougher to WIN?

England
Ukraine
Poland
Montenegro
Moldova
San Marino

USA
Costa Rica
Honduras
Mexico
Panama
Jamaica

In other words, would we have qualified in England's position? Keep in mind that we would need to win that group, not just finish top 3.

Well considering only one team from the first group is in the WC, I am going to say that ours was more difficult.

Ukraine would have been the only team to cause us any trouble in that group.

The CONCACAF one is just as tough to win but that doesn't really matter.

The point is "qualifying" though and the European group is much tougher in that regard.

Poland, Ukraine, Montenegro are better than Panama and Jamaica.

That was also the easiest of the European groups I recall.

top two

first gets auto big second goes into playoff which would have been vs france so no we would most likely not have made it out.

We aren't talking about Europe as a whole, but just in that group. You think that :Poland
Montenegro
Moldova
San Marino

would have given the US more trouble than Honduras
Mexico
Panama ?

Yeah, that's why I went with winning.

Poland could massacre us. Montenegro's much tougher than they seem, and Moldova is always tough at home. San Marino would be the only pushover.

For what it's worth, England won the group with 22 points, and Ukraine was right behind them.

I think we would have won that group.

I will just have to agree to disagree with everyone then. I think the US wins that group just like England did.

100% yes

Poland has a better player than any of these listed in all of this.

Comparing the teams that did make the WC to ones that did not is apples to oranges unless you're merely trying to say which group was harder to finish 1st in.

Dont forget we have to go away to these places. shite playing conditions and fans even worse than Mexico. Playing in the Balkans is no joke away.

Poland and Montenegro could push back (like Costa Rica and Honduras did), but we're probably better.

Panama is a better team than Moldova and San Marino is garbage.

A while back we were better than. Now im not so sure esp with the rise of Lewa.

Like most UEFA WC qualifying there is always that odd man or two out in every group. We don't have that in CONFACAF.

While FIFA rankings aren't the best, they are valuable in this hypothetical discussion

England 10
Ukraine 16
Poland 69
Montenegro 51
Moldova 101
San Marino 207

USA 13
Costa Rica 28
Honduras 31
Mexico 20
Panama 33
Jamaica 81
