You think the idea we could win that group is laughable? That seems pretty extreme.

England barely won it and needed some help. Our current squad would probably come in 2nd if we replaced England. Poland Ukraine could steamroll us, esp away.

If you actually watch those two play you would know why.

What the heck are you talking about ????
Ukraine just beat us handily...Poland beat us w/in the last year !!!
Qualifying top three from our concacaf group was INFINITELY easier !!!!

FWIW, I think there are at least 3 UEFA qualifying groups we would have won (or at least had a really good chance to win) if we replaced the team that actually did win.

Sure, with a team that wasn't our first team. Not indicative of wc qualifying, imo.

No idea what you are talking about. We haven't played Poland since 2010 and we had a 2-2 draw. So unless the internet completely forgot about the game in the last year, that's not an accurate statement.

some negative nancies in this group. if we replace england in that group, id give us like a 50% chance to win it. i dont see why one wouldnt think that? ukraine and poland are the only other teams with chances to win it and they are both solid teams, but why is it wrong to think we are better?

It had a majority of our first team. Most of our first team is Euro based. Clint even played before coming back to MLS.

I'd consider Montenegro as close to those 2 but, yeah, I think we are the slightly better the team of all those.

I think we'd stand a 50-50 chance at winning it if we played at the same level we just did in our own qualifying group.

If thats true about England winning with 22 points then I think USMNT wins that group if we replace England.

I feel like Moldova and San Marino would be 4 wins and 12 of the 22 points we needed. That leaves us 6 matches to collect 10 points. Of course 3 of those matches would be home games. It would be very close but I think we do it.

The USA is a better squad than some of you think. It seems like a lot of people are letting past reputation dictate what our current success would/will be. Which I guess is understandable in a sense, because we haven't always been good. Nonetheless, I think our guys are a little underestimated at times.

We could split with these teams. I doubt we would actually lose to Poland.

Poland isn't exactly a powerhouse, even with Lewandowski. In fact, they're quite shite. I watched Ukraine play them, and Poland couldn't string

Ukraine is a good bad team, if that makes sense. Yarmolenko and Konaplyanka are scary wingers, but they have a mediocre midfield, center forward and an above average defense. They play well at home, but are mediocre away. It would also depend on where we played them. In Lviv, Ukraine would have tremendous support. In Kyiv, it would be mediocre, because fans don't turn up unless it's a European power. They won't be playing games in Kharkiv and Donetsk for awhile, for some strange reason.

Montenegro has a few quality international players, but so does Honduras or Costa Rica, if we are to compare.

We could win the group.

i mean i guess they could but we could massacre them as well.

We have a better team than Poland IMO even with Len... however you spell his name.

I think Ukraine in a different circumstance than the last one, we win.

I don't know if it would be easier but definitely doable.

Ghana > any team in that group
Portugal> any team in that group

Concaf has a quality showing this year in the wc and i think its b/c it has been slightly underrated for a while
