i've been back and forth debating on which course i want to play when i go there in July... i have it narrowed down to either Peninsula or Craft Farms.. if anyone here has played either or both, what is your input/suggestions? i'm leaning more towards Peninsula just because it seems more scenic but other than that, i really don't have a preference..

i did a lot of reading on kiva dunes and it seems like a lot of people say that it is overrated.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I have no idea what kind of shape it's usually in, but Kiva had the fastest greens I've ever putted on back 6-7 years ago during the Alabama State Match Play Tournament. I really enjoyed the course then. I've never played Peninsula, but I'd pick Kiva over Craft Farms.

Someone else may know what kind of shape any of those courses are currently in.

Pennisula is good, if you're good. If not you better bring about 20 golf balls

that's what i'm hearing... i talked to a guy at work and he told me the exact same thing.. i've actually been hitting the ball well (straight) it's just been my putting that's killed me...

i'm just looking forward to playing a new course, i don't mind losing a few balls

nothing wrong with Craft Farms though. Played it a couple years back on spring break and they had some great student discount(even without it the price was still reasonable IIRC). well worth it

peninsula has always been in better shape when I played than craft farms was. In terms of layout, its a push. Neither are particularly scenic, as both are a good ways from the beach. I would take Kiva over both any day of the week though. Kiva has always been in good condition when I played (with the exception of the time they punched the greens and didn't bother to tell us) plus it is close to the beach, so it is a lot more scenic (ie: you can tell you are on the coast).

Played Craft Farms May 16-17 and it was in great shape; both courses for the record.

Peninsula has always been in great shape when I play there.

Kiva can be too hard for many weekend hacks.

haven't played penninsula but i enjoyed craft farms

Kiva dunes is pretty sweet too, but avoid if you aren't accurate. I went in a bunker that I had to go down some stairs to get into

alright, thanks for the input...

i'm not GREAT but i wouldn't consider myself a weekend hack.. i haven't figured out my exact handicap yet because i don't play as frequent as i used to, but bogey golf is usually where i'm at with a few pars and maybe a birdie or two for a round (but that's at the course that i play all the time)

i'll bump this tomorrow for the day shift

thanks guys

been there...that's the bunker that is like 15 feet deep and you can't see the green when you're in it...

i hit my bunker shot to within 2 feet and made that to save par, BTW.

I played Peninsula twice this past week and really enjoyed it. Beautiful course, get an early tee time though. I'm an amateur and didn't lose a ton of balls; it's not THAT hard.

I would put Kiva above Peninsula every day of the week and twice on Sundays. IMO.

Don't sleep on Gulf Shores Country Club though. It is competitively priced and a great golf course. It has a really fun layout and every time I've played it, it has been in excellent shape. Just make sure you get a tee time at the Country Club and not the State Park. The Country Club is on Ft. Morgan as well.

When I went a few years ago, I played Gulf Shores Golf Club (It's also called Golf Club of the Wharf). It's a fantastic course and not that far from the main strip (where the Hangout is).

I actually hit an amazing shot out of there too, maybe because you just say screw it and take the swing
