What say the OB? I have been getting mixed reports about both areas. Current plan is to get to the barges early and fish till about 8:00 am or so when the tide slacks then head behind the island and fish some rigs or old island areas.

Good luck to all going this weekend

If the water isn't good at the barges don't even waste your time.

I'll be in a 20 ft. twin vee. Captain will have white sunglasses. See you out there somewhere.

Water should be cleaning up so it should be pretty good......I would make plans to be fishing at daybreak. The bite last week was early and when the tide started waning the fish shut off like a light switch. I find this to be even more critical on days with light winds.

Sounds like a good plan. The earlier you get out the better. Live bait for insurance.

10-4. When it is a parking lot out there and boats are stacked up, I wonder sometimes who out there is on the OB. One of these days I am just going to holler "OB check in" and see what I get!

Plan is to get out there at daylight but we will see. All depends on how much help I get from my very tired 17 yo son. Dropped the boat at the house at lunch and left him a list of stuff that needs to be done to get boat ready. Getting close to the day I can just say "Lets go fishing" and he does all of the work.

Water off the beaches looked clean from today. Only viewed it from land. A bit of seaweed but clean further out

Caught 26 between 3 people. Mix of specs and white trout - not mant throw back specs. Ran west to Caillou Island and fished the mouth of the pillings. Live shrimp under a cork or Carolina rig minnows. Saw others catching sporadically but for us the bite stopped about 10:30 this am. Caught catfish after that. Good looking water but a lot of grass in the bay so watch your intake when running. Conditions look to get better as week progresses. Good Luck!

Big thanks for the report.

I will be bringing one of my kids Monday.

Did you stay in the bay or did you ever venture over to the gulf and the barges?

We ended up staying in the bay. We stayed at Boudreaux motel and decided against fighting the toll and launch given there are two rodeos going on and just went out of southwest canal etc. Stopped at a couple of islands on way back in but the bite had stopped - at least for us anyway

Good luck and let us know how y'all do. Hope Who Me Jr slayes em
