Last week brought the rumor that Warner Bros.' upcoming DC slate will see the release of not only Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, but also Shazam!, Sandman, Wonder Woman, and a Flash/Green Lantern team up movie all between 2016 and 2018. We discuss this rumored line-up on our latest episode of Most Craved. You can now add one more title to that list as Latino-Review reports that WB is eyeing 2019 for a solo Batman film starring Ben Affleck, of which the working title is said to be

"The Batman."

Well there we go. I figured it was odd that they didn't have a stand alone movie. So much for that theory that Batman may die in DoJ or JL.

Batman is DC's biggest property, and they have toys to sell. He will be alive and dark and gritty for a while to come.

I agree...that's why it was strange not to see a Batman film in the lineup. Then you add the fact that Affleck is supposed to be portraying a Batman that is closer to the end of his career. Obviously that won't be the case now.

There is no way they can guarantee that Affleck will still want to do this shite in 5 years.

It will depend on the success of Batman v Superman and JL. If there is a strong reaction to Affleck's Batman, then the release date will more than likely get moved up.

Do we really know if Affleck will be playing and directing Batman in the solo films?

From what I've heard Jett of BOF describe, basically the solo Batman films will be set in a time prior to Superman and the JL. The solo films will be younger Batman in his prime. I could see Affleck directing these movies while someone else also plays Batman. All the same time, Affleck is playing the older Batman in the JL movies.

He's allegedly signed on for a multi-picture deal, which is thought to encompass more than just Superman and the JL.

And we're just talking about a span of 4 years really. He is working on SvB now followed by JL. Then he's working on his own project after called Live By Night, which he may actually do before JL. He would probably start filming Batman soon after. Filming would likely be finished in 2018.

No but I've seen The Dark Knight Rises and I have no desire to see it twice.

You should see it. It's better than The Dark Knight Rises. Seriously.

Then you're familiar with the story. I think Batman in this universe is suppose to be more like that one. Not quite that old, but older and more seasoned than other takes on the character. 46 is the perfect age and they will probably make more.

Won't do it better than Nolan, don't care if it's a different story.

Yeah I'm familiar with it and I'm interested to see this take on an older Batman. My fear is that it won't go over well with a general audience.
