Just finished season one. It was okay. Was wondering if it picks up some in the future seasons. I remember seeing an occasional episode when it was being broadcast but none of the season one episodes were familiar.

I really enjoyed it. I think it kinda paved the path for all the Premium TV drama series. I liked it all the way through (although the final season gets a lot of deserved hate) but be warned that it gets a lot more "prison rapey" (well, a lot more consensual rape too) after season 1.

I liked the show, but it might be the most unrealistic show/movie made about prison.

i liked it. it's definitely not meant to be realistic. i don't think a prison with like 144 murders inside a year would be allowed to stay open.

but if you don't like storylines that drag on it's defintely for you.

the typical OZ story arc seems to be over before it starts.

"hey i recognize the actor playing this new character. i wonder what his storyline will b------oh nevermind, he's dead."

I watched a couple episodes not too long ago, and it seemed like every character is recognizable and on a current tv show.

It's been awhile since I've watched it but I enjoyed it. I remember watching it in it's original run when I was in late teens/early 20s. It was definitely a groundbreaking show for it's time.

I liked that show as it was my first HBO series. Never understood how McMannus could have kept his job all those years.

I really enjoyed it. The first four seasons were awesome (well...up until the mid-point of season 4).

*SPOILER*

I didn't like the way they ended the Schillinger - Beecher storyline. It was really cheesy.

A liked the show during the initial run, but my eyes were rolling pretty often.

I mean after the 32nd time inmates are strolling about unwatched in dark corridors on the way to a rape or murder, you have to wonder how the warden kept his job.

Probably not a very good marathon show because you might go blind from excessive eye rolling.

I am half way through season 2, enjoying it more than season 1. Psycho Beecher is a lot better than Pussy Beecher.

The whole Beecher narrative was my favorite part of the show. That dude goes through some stuff.

It was good except for the fact, no government on this planet would shell out for prisoners like that, and it had no effect on the violence, and usual bullshite...it's more unbelievable that they didn't scrap it than it is that they actually funded it.
