Apparent pause in global warming blamed on 'lousy' data
by Stuart Clark
13 June 2014

A widely reported "pause" in global warming may be an artefact of scientists looking at the wrong data, says a climate scientist at the European Space Agency.

Global average surface temperatures rose rapidly from the 1970s but have been relatively flat for the past 15 years. This has prompted speculation from some quarters that global warming has stalled.

Now, Stephen Briggs from the European Space Agency's Directorate of Earth Observation says that surface air temperature data is the worst indicator of global climate that can be used, describing it as "lousy".

"It is like looking at the last hair on the tail of a dog and trying to decide what breed it is," he said on Friday at the Royal Society in London.

Global warming alarmists are really a laughing stock at this point.

Well... If the shoe fits.

Our very own alarmist will be here shortly.

At least they are admitting that they are fallible.

After reading that article, it sounds to me like the climate scientist really don't have a handle on climate change.

Ok so the actual temperature of the planet means nothing, even though the data says it isn't it really is. I understand now.

So since they also used surface air temp to prove warming BEFORE....doesnt that mean their prior conclusions were "lousy"?

They literally destroy their previous argument while trying to deflect from the truth. It's insanity.

Man they REALLY are pissed at the prospect that such a thing might have occurred, huh? So fricking goofy.

GW scientists should really stop calling themselves scientists.

They don't conduct themselves like scientists.

so if their data is lousy, how can we be sure their solutions (i.e. cap and tax, or sorry I mean cap and trade) isn't lousy?

Global warming data is irrelevant.

Changes at every level need to be made regardless of data.

So their data is bad, yet the science is settled...

Wrong!
AGW BS is extremely important because it distracts from the "changes at every level which need to be made regardless of data."

I don't think that people here hate science. It's the fact that these scientists tell us that using X parameters they have found definitive, rock-solid proof that GW is real and man-made, then, a couple years later, use a different set of parameters to prove GW and say the old parameters are wrong. So they want everyone to completely change their economic systems based on science that changes every couple of years.

What's hilariously ironic is this same critique is not given to the science behind GMOs and the like.
