Free agent Kyle Lowry and the Heat have "mutual interest," according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
Lowry is coming off a terrific season with the Raptors in which he averaged career-highs in points (17.9), 3-pointers (2.4), rebounds (4.7) and assists (7.4), while adding 1.5 steals and a stingy 2.5 turnovers in 36 minutes per game. He told beat writer Michael Grange in early May, "I love this situation [in Toronto]. It's as simple as that." Any daliance with the Heat is complicated by Miami's salary-cap crunch -- in order to pay Lowry the $10+ million he'll earn annually as a free agent, at least one of Miami's Big 3 would have to opt out and restructure their contract this summer.

Unless Bosh decides to leave, it ain't happening. I don't see how he fits either. Both Lebron and Wade dominate the basketball. What they need is a good center or a power foward that provides production in the paint especially on the defensive end.

Lebron needs a better 2guard before a point guard. Him and Wade basically run point anyway.

They don't need to.

Lowry is really the type of player they need, they just shouldn't pay that much if they are going to keep Wade.

Always amusing how talented players never are "fits" for the Heat

Because they don't have a defined role. Melo would be awful with the heat, they already have LeBron.

Why waste space when they don't need another wing?

i think the price is $5M/yr if he wants to play with LBJ. if he wants $10, he can go to milwaukee...

Agents are going to throw the Heat, the Lakers, Knicks and Celtics into everything they can for buzz and to drive the price for their clients

They do this by leaking all kinds of crap to the media with "inside sources"

Maybe Lebron should adjust his playing style so players other than shooters are "fits"

Lebron would rather play PG then score.

Plus Melo can allow for Spo to play Lebron less minutes.

"Roles" are overrated because Lebron is so vetsatile

Sure they don't need to, but they do. The offense is facilitated through them the majority of the time. They need someone to stretch the floor and make buckets so they can attack the basket while the guys down low can do their job. Remember Lebron telling Spoelstra they needed to give James Jones more minutes? They don't have that stretch guy so Bosh, instead of trying to protect the paint and collect rebounds, has become an outside shooter.

Lowry fits the bill as a bucket maker but putting him in Miami doesn't maximize his abilities. Plus, it's going to cost 10 million a year a least for his services. This is a hypothetical that won't happen unless Bosh walks. Wade isn't going to leave all that guaranteed money on the table and I don't see Lebron leaving either.

in fairness, he defers to wade. so they have 1. LBJ 2. wade. more than that is alot of cooks in the kitchen. maybe wade should adjust his game he take a lesser role/ contract to make this work.

Lowry isn't in the position to be taking pay cuts. He'll go to the highest bidder regardless of the situation.

This would be the only factor to why they would want LeBron.

They could treat him like a caged animal and stave him from getting minutes in the regular season and release him in the playoffs 800 lbs. Gorilla with a chainsaw penis style.
