Anyone take a guess how many home runs have been hit in CWS?

Oh hell I'll cut the suspense out now

FRICKING ZERO

Over the course of 8 games no home runs have been hit by any of the 8 CWS teams. It's still hard to believe the knee jerk reaction the NCAA had going to these new bats and totally not even thinking about changing the ball until "oh wow, nobody hits home runs anymore!"

it's the stadium. they need to take the fences in 10-15 feet.

All the teams play on the same field, right?

The stadium has the same dimensions as Rosenblatt.

Does the direction that the new stadium faces and the wind have that much to do with the lack of home runs? Serious question.

It's a larger park but 335 to each foul pole and 375 power alleys should be attainable more than never over the course of ~15ish games in a tournament to decide the champion in baseball.

To compare the box is only 5 feet shorter at the foul poles, 10 feet shorter in the power alleys and a whopping 3 feet shorter to dead center.

TCU player absolutely hammered the ball and it didn't even get to the warning track. It's a joke.

It's so stupid. Kids with power squaring up mistake pitches and it's being caught 10-15 feet before the wall.

The last few college world series have been close to unwatchable...and the games have been close.

I've been here for about half the games so far. Only seen 5-6 hard hit balls

Last year, the wind was blowing in almost constantly. Katz HR was hit in a short period where it switched to out. Field is too large for the conditions. Either move in the fences or change the bats, TD plays even bigger than it is

Oh and

A lot of coaching goes into hitting when you get to TD Ameritrade. Besides the fact it's a bigger park with these shitty bats and current ball, the wind blows in as opposed to the old park. Coaches tell a lot of guys to not even attempt to try big swings rather spray the ball around because basically every big swing that makes contact turns into a flyout.

ahh, I love this response. I guess it would be cool too if the NCAA basketball finals were played on 12 foot goals then since it would be same for both teams? The answer is no. This ballpark completely changes the nature of baseball and a fundamental part of the game. Even a pitcher Kyle Peterson was talking about how this isn't baseball and the fences needs be moved in

The only logical fix is to fire all the hitting coaches imo.

I'm hoping they go the entire cws without one. Then they'd almost have to make changes to fix this crap. It's pathetic that the championship is played in a way that completely takes away a major aspect of the game.

I think there were only 3 hit last season. Katz was one of them.
