Yes, frick Mexico. I get that. But outside of being a border country and the 2-0 game, why the strong vitriol? The game thread said think of it as if they are Bama. Well I think most LSU fans only hate Bama because they are good and have our former coach...which makes sense.

And before I get jumped for supporting Mexico, I'm not trying to undermine anyone's dislike for them. I'm trying to understand where that hate comes from.

For every reason that people hate LSU fans. Except with Mexico it's actually true. They also have a very high opinion of themselves as a footballing nation and it's just not based in reality.

For starters, they chanted "Osama" after 9/11

And they keep doing it

They are dirty and disgusting players only to be outdone by the vileness of their fans.

I understand this. I'm trying to ask why they are, outside of being a border country.

They have purposefully tried to injure our players (both their fans and players).

Ah, I see you've never been hit with a piss bomb that smells of Tecate and jealousy.

I haven't either, of course, because I'm not crazy enough to actually go to Azteca.

You know all the diving that people hate in soccer? Mexico made it an art. Plus they hack at ankles, take cheap shots, just all around dirty players.

We played in Mexico after 9/11 and people said they heard Osama! chants.

Every time we play against Mexico, they have Mexican fans who throw shite on the field, start fights with our fans, apparently throw bottles filled with piss, etc. Mexican fans chanted about wanting to rape Landon Donovan's sister during a qualifier.

I will say I've met some nice Mexican-Americans who were Mexico fans, but they weren't playing against us so I don't know how that changes anything.

Also, if you play adult soccer, Mexicans will literally try to break your legs on purpose, repeatedly, if you make any reference to them eating a few too many gordita crunches.

Classic Bama-Auburn, Ole Miss-State, Texas-A&M. If you don't get it, you don't get rivalries.

Yeah, I grew up playing soccer tournaments in Houston against a lot of Mexicans. Huge pieces of shite, those guys were.

I was born and raised in Alabama and I've been a CFB fan my entire life. I get rivalries, but what I was asking is what makes this such a hated rivalry. Most sane Ole Miss fans when asked about their feelings on MSU say "frick MSU". I wanted to know where that hate came from and others have explained why.

they're the only other viable, consistent threat in CONCACAF

they have an EXTREMELY over-inflated sense of place in the world of soccer. their fans believe they are a northern brazil

their fans, frankly, are pieces of shite. all of the other central american (and i'd wager south american) fanbases fricking hate their fans. this isn't being anti-latino...it's fully anti-mexican

All of the things said above. Their fans and players are assholes. The proximity and competition. And the fact that we compete in the same FIFA region.

I didn't mind them back in my high school/club days because they all weighed 120 lbs so they were dealt with swiftly. Now that I'm older they are the same height but 100 lbs heavier and can do a bit more damage (if they can catch anyone )

For years they dominated CONCACAF as well as the USMNT. It's kind of like two brothers, the older dominates the younger and is superior in most situations for a time because he's older. Then the younger one actually grows up to be the more physically gifted, better looking, smarter, and more successful of the two with an infinitely brighter future. The older brother full of jealousy and hatred knows he's holding the shitty end of the stick, but would never admit it. He vents his frustrations by taking cheap shots at his little brother and being an otherwise useless and unbearable shithead. He embraces the shitheadedness and vainly attempts to mask it as superiority but fools no one.

frick Mexico.
