I wanted to play on my vacation to Destin but I don't want to play a single and quite honestly I don't want to play with hacks (flame if you'd like). Does anyone know which course has the best practice facility?

When I go to different areas and play golf I usually just go to the pro shop and ask the pro or asst. that I'm looking for a game. They usually will try to hook you up. Don't be scared.

Went to Lufkin Tx. once, wife had a seminar, so I tagged along. Found a local golf store, and asked the salesman what and where were the local golf courses. A dude he was talking to told me to meet him at Crown Colony, that they had a noon skins game everyday. Showed up and there was about 30 old retired dudes and welcomed me in. Had a blast, and its a nice course.

Kelly Plantation has the best driving range. It's the biggest and it's generally in the best condition. They've also got a nice putting green and a nice chipping green with bunkers. Regatta has these as well, but they're smaller and not as well maintained as Kelly's.

I hung out at Indian bayou all day and played and practiced. The staff there were fantastic. Kelly will let you practice all day with unlimited range balls for around $50 I think. Do yourself a favor and get a putting lesson from Rob Strano at Kelly.

Concur. My favorite course to play in Destin as well. I always walk on as a single and get paired up with complete strangers.

I have done this probably twenty times betweek KP and Regatta Bay. Each time I dread it, thinking I'm going to get paired up with someone who sucks, or is an arse, and every time I have had a fantastic time and really enjoyed meeting the folks I played with. The one exception was a guy who was a high school basketball coach from the midwest who seemed really angry. He told me he was looking at buying a house in Burnt Pine. That didn't really reconcile with his career choice until he told me his wife was the national sales director for Mary Kay. After we finished the 18th hole and drove to the parking lot to drop off our clubs, I saw him pull up to a pink Escalade which, while free, may have explained some of his anger.

We have a place right across from the Track and usually go just as a family or with another couple. Nobody I go with plays so I am stuck as a single because I love to golf in Destin. Always play Kelly and will usually do Regatta or Indian Bayou. Never have been paired with any douches or tards but I know my time is coming.
