ummm... we were doing shite like that not that long ago. alot of terrible shite happens here, you just process it differently because you arent watching video of it.

Ive been to a few middle eastern countries and they are much less violent than the US and much more peaceful. Ive also been to a few SE asian countries and they seemed pretty nice even while conflict was happening.

heck, didnt a couple of people just get arrested for cutting a stripper into pieces? imagine if you had a watched a video of that.

Many?? Probably less than 1 out of 100 know or can really comprehend how bad it is. You have to travel and see it, really see it, to understand, and even people who vacation all over the world are probably never actually exposed to the actual reality of this world.

Most American's are so clueless.

Our poverty level is still in the top 1% of wealth in the world.

I have met my fair share of affluent people from other countries, and most of them live in compounds and have armed security rolling around with them 24/7. Also, a good bit of American contractors in foreign countries have the same setup

After watching dozens of videos, I feel like that one put me over the edge on the "Allah akbar" phrase. Just makes me wanna punch the next person I hear say it. I guess the way bad people in other countries go about doing things makes other people think light of the situations when they do happen. I mean, you're not gonna see 50 people tearing someone's clothes off, wrapping a tire around them, pouring gas, and then lighting them on fire. It just doesn't happen here, and US citizens have no idea that it would ever happen anywhere

I can't even fathom what we would do if people did know about it. It is just beyond my comprehension

I am 24 and used to pay attention to the news all the time. Now I do not because issues are so complex that you have to spend quite a bit of effort to understand the full picture, especially regarding foreign policy.

Many Americans are unaware of some of the bad things that go on in the world. OTOH, many Americans, like some on this thread, overstate the hazards. If you keep your wits about you and stay out of active war zones, you can go most places in the world and be fine.

I am always surprised at how much cheaper life is (as in how much easier it is to die, whether crossing the road or in traffic or just other mundane ways) in countries outside the US.

But I agree that the danger is being overstated in this thread. After all, the majority of people aren't going to fight as mercenaries or to work in an oil rig off the coast of Angola.

Compared to any Western European country and many other countries that are far less desirable, the US crime rate is through the roof and no number of down votes will change that. Really, the only exceptions to the rule are Brazil, South Africa, Central America, several conflict nations like Afghanistan, Syria, etc, and possibly Russia. Of course the murder rates in the places I have lived are probably close to Monaco and Norway.
