This is not an abnormal occurrence. World Cup has always been a young man's tournament.

I don't disagree, but the last three tournaments the best player was over 30.

There are plenty of young players each tourney who make their mark and get moves to big clubs. Happens every tourney.

Well the sport is typically a young mans sport. Its hard to play soccer competitively in your 30s. And most of the big soccer nations always have up and coming youngsters. Ive read that your peak in soccer is 23 for attackers and 25 for defenders.

Its def a young mans sport.

I'm looking forward to seeing more from these U-20 stars:

I think this young buck has a chance to be a player one day:

Some other up and coming goal scorers from this World Cup. I'm really looking forward to seeing them in the U-17s next year:

This. The older you get, the younger the younger players look. So you're probably just noticing it more.

Scroll down to the "Different League, Same Story" part.

And I wasnt saying that like its a fact... just saying thats what I have read. Doesnt mean its true for every player in the world. And some players peak lasts for a long time, some are short lived. Everyone is different.

I think instead of peak those ages mentioned are usually when talented young players begin to reach their potential.

Attacking players usually enter their peak at 23 and defenders do so at 25.

The peak typically lasts until 31

It's no wonder, since male ballplayers in almost all sports peak somewhere between 26 and 29.

Which always boggles my mind that everybody gets all worked up to see the "next hottest' 18 year old (in soccer, in NCAA recruiting among others.) Almost all of them are the better part of a decade from being whatever it is they'll become.

Yeah... and it also puts a lot of emphasis on the average males athletic peak is and all that.

And once again, Im not saying that its true or not. All I said is what I read something that said your peak in soccer is between 23 and 25.. thats all.
