What are some things to do with a 13 year old that won't take more than about 4 hours? We have to be in Chalmette for baseball today may have a few hours to kill before we actually play?

Chalmette Battle Field.

Rocky and Carlos -- Get the veal, with bake macaroni and LOTS of red sauce. Make sure to get a large potato salad as a side.

Lots of good fishing places, but can't do it in that time period.

Agree with MMauler. Hit the Chalmette Battlefield and grab a good meal at Rocky's (Tony's was better but they just shut down). If your kid is a city boy, take a drive down to Shell Beach or Delacroix - I've always enjoyed a scenic drive through those areas (if he is a regular fisherman and accustomed to such sites, obviously it won't appeal to him).

The only reason to go to Chalmette (unless you live there or are going to visit friends/family) is a meal at Rocky & Carlo's.

Rocky's is a given. Go every time we play in Chalmette. Only problem is we'll have to wait until after our game to eat. He won't be able to move after eating all that food. I actually did think about the battlefield. That's one place neither of us has ever been. I'll look up times and I'll that info but are there any tips that I should know from some of you that have been.

cross the bridge on paris and go see the vietnamese village in new orleans east. one of the most unique places in america. and some great vietnamese food.

drive the neighborhood, see their church. how many places in the world can you see a vietnamese settlement in suburban america?

chalmette battlefield, shell beach, delacroix, and st bernard all interesting to see. all this can be done in a day, so space it out. st. bernard the settlement has some interesting islano stuff.

Here's NOLA.com's updated map of locations of 2014's murders:

NOLA Murder Map 2014

We are at 59 for CY 2014, for the record.

I thought it was cool and well done too. There's one about St. Tammany also.
