How badly will we outnumber Ghana fans?

I have to assume it will be an enormous gap. What percent of the crowd do people expect we will have?

I don't know but I just had a weird thought. Given the growth of American soccer, imagine if yoou will, in the future sometime, a World Cup being held once again in Mexico, somehow getting to play Mexico, but this time, with about 40,000 Americans in the Azteca

Mexicans outnumber Americans at soccer games in America. What makes you think we'd outnumber them in Mexico?

Texas and Arizona aren't America.

Wasn't the most recent US/Mexico match intentionally played in the Midwest in a 38,000 seat stadium so very few Mexicans could attend as they would have been outnumbered playing somewhere like Reliant?

Columbus, OH has been a mainstay for WCQ for decades, that's why they play there. The US has played Mexico at Reliant. It's a horrible set up for soccer and the US was not outnumbered.

I can't give you a specific ratio but the U.S. is second only to Brazil in tickets purchased by country.

Columbus in a stadium that seats ~20 000
Ultimately, problem being that 1st/2nd generation Mexicans drive a shite-ton of the soccer demand in the country, hence their English language coverage for Mexico. There's a Spanish language ad featuring a USA fan running away from his Mexican father, which I find hilarious.
It will probably shift as the Mexican population here turns into 2nd-3rd generation Mexicans, but we aren't outnumbering Mexico anywhere in the US today unless we play in the Pacific NW. That's why their association plays so many games here.

You just don't understand, I don't think you ever will.

It was a joke. Sheesh.

because it's the world cup, not a qualifier or friendly. As of recent the USA travels well for the World Cup. Thousands of Americans will be in the country since it's super close and we'd never actually be put in a group with Mexico so it would be a knock out round meeting too. heck even in this tourney we're in the top 5 for most tickets not bought by the host. plus I never said outnumber, but 40,000 (the azteca is over 100k)

To answer the OP, Ghana should have around 500 or so fans. I'm guessing we'll have 20-25,000 but I'm not sure.

Ghana will sponsor 500 fans to cheer the national team, the Black Stars, at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, a senior official has confirmed here.
Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, minister of youth and sports, told the media that the airlifting of the supporters will take off this coming weekend with the possibility of the number increasing as the tournament progresses, reports Xinhua.

Half the stadium I think not. Lets not get out of hand here
If 20k made the trip down there in general thats insane but for all to get tickets and be at the game

You mean other than Columbus, right? We had about 90 percent of the fans for that game.

We did buy about 150,000 total tickets, I believe. Obviously there are repeats and people who aren't going to watch the USA, but we should dominate the stadium.

quote:This is what makes the OP's statement possible. A US-Mexico WC match at Azteca would have the ticket demand of the Super Bowl. It wouldn't be a question of who wanted to go, but who could pay the most.
