Just in case you're bored with Muslims killing each other.

quote:

A column of three T-64 tanks, several BM-21 “Grad” multiple rocket launchers, and other military vehicles crossed the border near the Ukrainian town of Snizhne, State Department officials said.

quote:

“Russia will claim these tanks were taken from Ukrainian forces, but no Ukrainian tank units have been operating in that area,” the State Department said Friday afternoon. “We are confident that these tanks came from Russia.”

quote:

on June 5, President Obama demanded that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia stop the flow of fighters and arms across the Russia-Ukraine border and press the pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine to disarm, relinquish seized public buildings and join talks with the central authorities in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital. Mr. Obama said Russia would have to comply within “the next two, three, four weeks,”

The US will be standing heads and shoulders above Russia long after Obama and Vlady Vlad are gone. Get Putin's sack out of your mouth. They aren't playing on our level. He has fundamentally weakened Russia in a way that no President could weaken the United States.

Baw.

May have been replying to one of the other posters in the thread. If you have Putin's sack in your mouth, however, it applies to you as well.

ETA: Yeah, think I was trying to reply to Camden. But many posters here think that Putin is leadership and manhood personified. If you're not one, please accept my half-assed apology.

Because nothing says 'I love you'
like the gift of a tank.

I like how he now anticipates moving the "red line"

An idiotic statement. He took the country away from the oligarchs and basically saved the country from turning in to America.

His fiasco in Ukraine and his support for Assad (which I don't necessarily think is such a terrible thing) has destroyed any illusion that the Federation is anything more than it's ever been. They enjoyed an economic boom as oil prices soared and he has support from many of the most influential citizens in his country. The US and Europe are as certain as ever before, however, that we're still dealing with the same kind of nation that we dealt with during the cold war--though then there was a much broader belief in an apparent parity between our two factions. Russia's paltry threat to pivot away from the petro-dollar is another sign of their desperation. Putin is standing on his own dick to all but his own people (who will decline to the tune of 20-50 million over the next century. They are not capable of long-term self-sufficiency let alone true power projection.

But I look forward to whatever you have to offer. I mean, you lived there.

Jesus Holy Christ.

ETA: There are some key figures to which you should pay attention. Maybe someone with half a brain (like Russian) can point them out.

His fiasco in Ukraine
What has made it a fiasco? He has achieved his first goal, that of repatriating the Crimea, an historical part of Russia, to Russia.

By doing that he has guaranteed the Russian navy a permanent warm water port without having to negotiate a new treaty every decade or so with a country that vacillates between European and Russian leanings.

Is that a fiasco for Putin?

Ukraine is certainly an historic part of Russia, but he won't hold it this time next year. And he's paid (and will pay more yet) a palpable price for it.
