Why root against Lebron James but for Phil Mickelson?

The MSB most popular theme is to ridicule LeBron James, but the second most popular theme is to ridicule Tiger Woods, and usually, support Phil Mickelson. What gives?
LeBron is the best player in the world in a team sport. LeBron's team has won 2 of their 5 Finals appearances, but only once has his team lost as the favorite.
Mickelson plays an individual sport but has never been the best in the world.Mickelson has won 5 of his 86 Majors, coming in 2nd or 3rd 15 times.
LeBron is a top 5 player in NBA history already, yet he is criticized for his failures more than any athlete I can ever remember. Phil is lauded as a fan favorite despite his lack of success compared to all-time greats. Hell, you could argue that the height of Phil's popularity was prior to his first Major win in 2004 when he was popularly referred to as the best golfer to never win a Major.
I believe the MSB, along with most of the country, has an irrational hatred of players who have the abilities to challenge the historic GOATs in a given sport. There is no other way to explain why players like Tiger Woods, LeBron James, and Alex Rodriguez are so polarizing, yet someone like Mickelson is so beloved. There is no fear that Mickelson will ever challenge for the GOAT in golf - people love him because he keeps Jack Nicklaus's legacy safe.
Spare me the responses of "The Decision", TW's scandal, and A-Rod with steroids - these players were hated/feared long before those incidents.

no, he isnt.
is he the most physically gifted? absolutely. but the game is also played mentally. is his basketball IQ very high? of course. not the point. there is an "it" factor that he simply doesnt posses. Brady does. Jordan did. Some soccer player I couldnt pick out of a line up does. Its that thing that made Jeter so great compared to A-Rod. (besides the awesome whoremongering Jeter does)
Lebron doesnt have it. period.

So his "super team" is getting blown out by a much better team in the Finals, and you hold this shite against him?
