It was reported that Challmette refinery was stopping the production of Ethanol free gas due to the lack of demand.
Only two other refineries in the state make it. One on Port Allen and one in Westlake.
I wis filling my Jerry cans for my generators and he told me I should get more becuase this may be the last of it.
He said Westlake is going to stop production and the BR refinery doesn't make enough for him to be able to order and get in Metaire.
Already ethanol-free is about $.30 cents more a gallon. But if you have anything with a carburetor you know the damage Ethanol causes especially to 2 stroke outboards and lawn equipment.
But regular use of fuel stabilizer should mitigate some of the effects from Ethanol.
I wish we could reverse this.
I'm going to try and fill up with 100LL for my jerry cans next time.

Southeast Louisiana's largest producer of ethanol-free gasoline won't make it anymore

Chalmette Refining, the major supplier of ethanol-free gasoline in the area, informed some of its dealers last week that it will no longer produce ethanol-free fuel.
Waguespack Oil, an area distributor that buys from Chalmette Refining, heard about the change secondhand when a competing refinery forwarded the email Chalmette Refining had sent out.
According to Waguespack's Jim Olsen, the refinery stated it would stop producing non-ethanol fuel on May 16.
"We were getting all of our non-ethanol gasoline out of Chalmette, but that's apparently disappearing," Olsen said.

Agreed! I'm glad I can still get the ethanol free stuff here in Lafayette.

Or it was used to replace MTBE which was used to replace lead.

how expensive do things have to get before enough people demand the corn lobby and green liberals be shut down from trying to manipulate the market ?

the ethanol is blended at the terminals where the trucks load, they don't blend it at the refinery.
When filling the truck just leave out the ethanol on certain loads..problem solved

The rack is at the refinery. The refinery did the blending.

I guess I better start stocking up.

its either blended or not, choose the not seems pretty simple
then use the rack at NOLA airport?

Not sure what the blends are there. Apparently Chalmette Refining was one of the only ones that put their uncut product out to distributors.

I guess they just need to walk up and press the non-ethanol button, eh?

The fishing communities are going to riot if they cut the supply of ethanol-free gas.

its all blended at the terminals as it enters each specific truck, based on where its going(brand) or the grade. So it seems as it should be simple to provide the straight gasoline.
But what I think happens is the refiners produce 83 or 85 grade which is cheaper for the refiner, don't remember exactly. then at the terminal the ethanol brings the octane to 87. So the refiners are making a killing on the ethanol subsidies
