$30-50K new or slightly(2012+)used.
I've been out of the car scene for a little while now. Mustang GT's runs a 5.0 V8 420hp engine now??

I like the new Shelby GT500. They have something like 600hp.

The 2013 Mustangs were 305 for the V6, 414 for the V8, 444 for the Boss, and 650 for the Shelbys.
I have a '13 V6, and it's pretty fast. I love it.

A car is a vehicle designed to get you from point A to point B.
If I want HP, then I want it in a tractor.

I'd bet both of those are $50k+
2014 Z06 MSRP starting at $53,000
2015 Challenger Hellcat projected to be in excess of $55,000
Googled each.
I swear the OT has zero reading comprehension.

335i
Wait a year or two and get a 435i?
Mustang would most likely be the most power for the least buck

Back when I was a teenster, a 400HP Viper was king of the street and it was $80K+? Inflation adjusted, probably 100K+ today's money.

Can you give us some interests. Do you want:
Luxury brand?
RWD or AWD?
Coupe or Sedan?
American German or Japanese?
Are you interested in handling or a cruiser?

5.0 mustangs in automatic with exhaust, intake, tune, and drag radials are running like 11.80s-12.0s in the 1/4 mile. That's crazy. I heard the standards are running a little slower. You could find a used gt 500 for the price range or a used zl1 camaro or used z06.

Hopefully the OP never is presented with a situation in which he needs to turn the wheel.

Everyone has their own interest and hobbies. Taking a car to the track or just driving a fast powerful car is a blast.

If you can't afford an extra 3-5k when buying a car at your price point, lower the price point. not trying to be a dick or snobby. Things don't always go your way with financing.

Boss Mustang as mentioned, not the same V8 as in the GT.
Subaru STi and Mitsubishi Evo's are 300ish HP. Spend a couple grand aftermarket on them and they get real quick.

My brother bought a viper with 30k miles for under $40,000 dollars. It's like a 96, but a newer z06 would be faster.

I feel like a price point is set for a reason. Because that's what can be afforded.
