Best spot to grab a lunch by myself during my lunch hour...

I work near United Plaza off Essen in Baton Rouge. What are the "can't miss" places around there where it wouldn't be awkward to go and eat by myself? I'm open to any kinds of food since I'll be working here for a while and won't always be able to bring my lunch.

I like Zoe's Kitchen in Perkins Rowe a lot, although the parking situation can be a shite show. Maxwell's Market, near Pennington, is quite good too.
And don't worry about eating lunch by yourself. People eat lunch by themselves all the time. No one is going to be looking at you and judging you....people are too caught up in their own shite.

India's gets my vote. The lunch buffet is legit. Why are you so weirded out by eating alone? I love eating lunch alone. It's my time of the day to be away from everyone else.

I haven't been in a while, but I recall $10-$12, depending on if you get water or a soft drink.
India's is fine, but if I'm going to an Indian place, I'm all about Curry N Kabab or Bay Leaf.

On Essen, near Perkins. Not too far from Ichiban and it's on the same side of the street.
I went there once for dinner. It was quite good. But we haven't been back since.

I freakin' LOVE India's.
Been going there for 15 years, I think.

La Reyna on Perkins should get some attention on this board
La Reyna gets it's fair share of attention on the board. Used to go pretty regularly, but haven't been since they remodeled a few months back.
The taqueria at the other end of the shopping center , Franko’s Antojitos, is legit too.

I've never had Indian food before, so having a buffet where I can try a bunch of stuff sounds appealing today. I think I'll go with that. I'll definitely hit some of those other places up in the coming weeks. How does Philly Me Up compare with South of Philly?

If you want some variety, hit up Counter Culture. The Humphrey Yogart is a meal by itself that I've had for lunch a few times.
