Sort of lacks any historical perspective. I guess it's okay, if it's assuming only as of right now.

I still say Ole Miss is a bigger rival of LSU than either Arkansas or Auburn, even assuming at this moment in time. Historically, they are even more so than Bama, but Bama clearly is more so at this moment.

Has Auburn really not won in Baton Rouge since 1999?

4. Notre Dame vs USC
85 Total Meetings – Notre Dame Leads the Series 45-35-5

The game for the Jeweled Shillelagh pits two all time national powers in Notre Dame and USC against each other. Since the inception of the series, both teams have combined for 22 National Championships, 14 Heisman Winners, and 21 College and /or NFL Hall of Famers. The most recounted version of how the series got started is known as a conversation between the wives of Notre Dame Head Coach Knute Rockne and USC Athletic Director Gywnn Wilson. As the story goes, USC’s AD was sent to Lincoln, Nebraska to convince Notre Dame to play USC in a home and home series. Rockne was initially against the idea but Rockne’s wife was able to convince Rockne that trip to Southern California every other year was better than a trip to Nebraska ever other year; can’t say that we disagree with her logic. Regardless of how the series started we’re pretty glad that in an era of filling out your schedules with cream puffs (we’re looking at you SEC – minus LSU) these two traditional powerhouses still keep the face each other every year.

39. Auburn vs LSU
47 Total Meetings – LSU Leads Series 27-20-1

Although these two schools have been playing each other off and on since 1901, it wasn’t until 1999 when Auburn players smoked cigars (in celebration of their win and of HC Tommy Tubberville’s birthday) on the field of Tiger Stadium when the hatred began. It was then when most folks believe this became a true southern rivalry. Auburn hasn’t won in Baton Rouge since that fateful day.

I still have a cigar from the next time Auburn played in BR and everyone went on the field after the game and smoked cigars. I was too young to smoke one but I was given one. I wrote the score and date on it and found it a couple weeks ago.

I agree with this comment. Author doesn't appear to actually know anything about football rivalries, but may have read about them.

General comments:

Judging rivalries depends on the criteria. I assume it's a combo of history, on-field significance, hatred of each other

That said,

Are legit, could be higher but not analyzing enough to displace others:

22. Arizona vs Arizona State
25. Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State
19. Florida vs Florida State
17. Alabama vs LSU
11. Clemson vs South Carolina
42. TCU vs Baylor

Trending Down/overrated at this point:
6. Alabama vs Tennessee
1. Ohio State vs Michigan
7. Florida State vs Miami
10. Oklahoma vs Nebraska (for 20 years)

Old rivalry on the rise:
24. USC vs UCLA

Should be 1:

3. Army vs Navy
