You want a dog, a hunting dog, or a field trail dog. Inside dog, outside dog, etc... Give this more thought than the color of the dog. Buy the puppies from breeders that have produced the type of dog you are looking for in a dog. If you don't know the answers to these questions, do more research...

I got mine from Topdawg kennel in picayune, ms. A little bit of a drive but worth it. Sleeps in the bed with my kid. Hunts as well. Most gentle lab I've ever had.

x2 on Gator Point. And they are still in buisness. Great people who know their stuff. Many fine brown hounds have come from their kennel.
RIP Mrs. Cleo. I think Mr. Bill retired but I promise they wouldn't hand their legacy over to just anyone.
Some of the best choco labs in retriever history have come from their kennel.
Briarmarsh Kennels (Meche's) are fine folks also. They don't specialize in brown dogs, but if they have one, it will be nice!
