Regardless of how the state really is, Detroit, etc., are the Pure Michigan commercials the best travel commercials on TV? I've never been to the state, but the beautiful landscapes coupled with the musical score and Tim Allen's voice over are awfully convincing.

Outside of Detroit, Michigan is a very beautiful state in the summer.

One of the best tourism ads ever I'd say.

Google Mackinac Island. My wife's aunt lives up there and the family is looking at doing a huge family vacation up there next summer. I had no idea places like that existed in Michigan.

We have a cottage on Lake Michigan and spend two weeks there every summer. Awesome place but stay the frick away just the same. We need coon asses there like the fish in the lake need bicycles.

Some of the areas around the lakes are about as good of summer living as you're going to find.. anywhere.
I hear good things about Wisconsin as well.

Well, if the place can handle a bunch of Gumps I'm sure we'll be ok.

Where's your cottage? We have been in the leelanau peninsula for 70 years now.

They are good commercials. Doesn't make me want to travel there though.

Do you just close it up for the winter? Does anyone stay up there during winter or do all the little towns just close shop?
