32 point win - in Texas - by a Texan very popular in his own state ...

Cruz's dad, Rafael, is pretty popular here too. Guest speaker at many state and local GOP events.

He won the straw poll at RLC last weekend, as well.

Cruz running might nuke the chances of the only GOP candidate with a shot to be a transcendent candidate who can beat Hillary. He is Rand-lite on actual policy with none of the crossover appeal and twice the smugness.

I agree, he's not the most likable guy on the list.

Cruz is good for Texas, but I wouldnt want him for president.

His dad is a paranoid religious nutcase.

I doubt you will ever see a non college graduate become the President again.

This is one example of why he's forever destined to be a state politician and a career one to boot.

Ted Cruz will never be president. Rand is the only credible candidate the GOP has.

Why do you always have to convince yourself of this? I know you are all in for Rand but to say Cruz has no shot at the national stage but Rand does with his baggage from his dad?

Ted Cruz may be the greatest man alive but he lacks both the persona and charisma to be elected president. People do not look at him and instantly like and identify with the man, and that is what is required to win elections in the US today. The republican party could learn a lot from the democrats on this issue, this is what got the last two dems elected.

I don't understand why people think Cruz wouldn't win.
FYI, Rand and Cruz are my top two picks.

Agreed. If the R's field him, I think he loses in the general election as well. It's amazing the R's can't find a truly solid candidate. There just aren't that many quality candidates that are well liked AND have tons of TV time at their disposal.

Agree... I've said it numerous times, the Repubs are going to railroad Rand and ruin their chances.

Texas has moved its primary date up 3 months to have more of a say in who gets the nom.

They moved it to March 1st - not good for Cruz fans.
