Do you guys think a former player could take over Javi's job and do well? Someone like a Ryan Theriot or Todd Walker. Those guys don't have college experience but could they handle the job?

If some unforeseen changes come, could these guys be viable options? What says the all knowing Rant?

ETA: Since it looks like most people will say they can handle it, Ill add this.

Do you think the coaching staff would consider this type of hire or would they go in a different direction?

Nope. Javi is the Bret Hart of college hitting coaches.

Kige Ramsey with his Youtube instruction video could handle Javi's job better than him...so yes

Have you seen the way Javy runs the pre game team meeting in the outfield? LSURussian would call him #IRREPLACEABLE

They could definitely handle the hitting part. I don't know if they'd want to get involved in the recruiting stuff and all that goes with that.

LSU's season batting average rank among SEC teams:

2011: 3rd
2012: 4th
2013: 2nd
2014: 3rd

All under the direction of hitting coach, Javi Sanchez. Not saying there aren't better coaches out there, but calling for his head is stupid. Not to mention he is essential in our recruiting, which just secured one of the best classes at LSU in years.

All good. But nothing is secure until July 18

I know. So on July 18, will Javi, Dunn, and Mainieri get some credit for this recruiting class?

We need to hire a coach that can teach Baserunning. LSU ran into 2 many outs this year. They get on base and then get picked off or get thrown out at 3rd.

Javy's recruiting equals reading scouting services and then following Marucci Elite Teams around. He's a joke and everyone knows it.

We have top 5-10 classes almost every year.

LSU didn't have recruiting problems before java nor will after after javi. Recruiting ability is overrated at a school like LSU, the program recruits itself. We need better instruction specifically in baserunning which apparently no one on the team for years knows how to teach.

We have a $40,000,000 Taj Mahal, and the best facilities surrounding a collegiate baseball program in the Nation. We have a huge public university to attract players with a warm climate for 8-9 months if not more per year. Most of all, we are the most successful and tradition laden program in America, and have led the Nation in attendance for close to two decades straight.

Are you-honestly, and with a straight face-going to tell me that Javy Sanchez is the real reason we recruit Top 5 Classes? You can spare me the sycophantic support. There are no sacred cows in this program.

Sanchez retains employment because of a nepotism-based affinity displayed towards him by the Head Coach. It has zero to do with his ability as a coach.

You're right the fact we've won 6 national titles and have been the nation's leader in attendance by far the last 2 decades has no impact on why kids choose LSU. Javi clearly has a bigger impact.
