Looking for boat that i will leave n Baton Rouge with my mid 20's son and son n law. Thinking 18-19 ft, 115hp , rather than larger 22ft, 225 . Thoughts on best size and which bay boat to fish and keep them out of trouble.
Reds n specks out of golden meadow mostly.

Or their freeloading asses could buy their own damn boat. How old are they?

Someone is going to be asking if you have another daughter that is single...

Perhaps the son and son in law have a domestic partnership

I have a 20' Xpress H20B w/ a 115 yammy. I fish everywhere from last island to reds in the marsh to freshwater. 10" hydro jackplate and I can get in some skinny stuff. It's a quality alum boat so you can put it away wet and be alright.
If they aren't going to big water in the gulf, a good alum boat will be perfect for the shallows and bays of GM. My xpress can handle more than you would think. yes I know it's no where close to fiberglass but it will impress you

why you got to break balls? an xpress may be perfect for him or it may be wrong. just throwing that out there to help the guy out.

Geez, nope, they could, but I live 4 hrs north and want a boat. Figure I'll only go 10-12 weekends a year. Leaving it down here, it gets used and I don't have to haul it. BTW, IF U CAN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION, STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE CONVERSATION

Awfully pushy for a noob...
Calm down bro. We're all friends in this place. You have some learning to do on how the OB operates if you're wanting to stick around in these parts.

If you plan on mainly fishing on the inside marshes and not making routine trips to the gulf then a 19ft center console aluminum boat with a 115 would be just right.

Dang you are acting mad if I were you I'd look into blazer bays or blue wave

Used 20' shearwater if you need something that will get you to the islands.
If you stay insidr get you a nice 18' mud boat completely decked out.

This would make the most sense to me...low maintenance boat and you should be able to find one at a good price.
Best bang for the $$$$.

So if I start a little side action with your daughter, do I get a boat too? Get a Contender for the daughter's boyfriend and a 16 foot riveted john for the son.

Nice rig pickle. Always been a fan of the Xpress boats. Buddy has the 21ft with a 150 Yammy and it's a pleasure to fish out of. Wanna say he gave 27k for it new 4 years ago but I believe they're around 32 now...for that size boat with that motor.
We've been out to Last Island several times and never had an issue. It's a big boat that's easy to maintain.
