I've seen the same 3 guys several times in the Mandeville harbor over the past month. Looks like a freaking blast, I'd love to get into it, but have no idea where to even start.

Everyone I know that does it now have knee problems from jumping. So if you do it, don't jump.

Start with a small kite first or there will be a video of your arse getting dragged face first across the sand/parking lot/ marsh/ etc.

I used to go sit at a bar in SC on the beach and watch new kite boarders get dragged face first down the beach while drinking my daiquiri.

Used to watch those frickers catch 30 foot + air off Venice Beach in Cali. No way in hell I'm signing up for that intentionally.

Was always a good time.

Best was when I guy would get decent on like a 7 ft or 10 ft then go buy a 14 ft kite or 16ft. His arse would get dragged like 100 yds.

I almost signed up for it on my trip to the Keys in March, but it's a whole day of training and they recommended two. Couldn't take that much time out of a trip to learn something I would rarely do again.

I think it looks like a blast though

No but I have watched my cousin struggle w/ it for hours only to get up for 10 seconds then drug thru the waves or beach – I love his sticktoitness – but watching him w/ a bevy in my hand is much easier.

He is a really athletic guy but given the learning curve he is going thru its time to find something else ………. The twentysoemthings that can do it are pretty impressive

the guy who does it a lot at the harbor here is probably at least in his late 40's, i'd probably say in his 50's though
