Skip was interviewed and he said we had a pretty good club, but our performance would be limited by not having enough offensive clout. I am paraphrasing, I cant find the interview to link.

Fast forward to the end, and he was exactly right. So, if Skip could see it, everyone saw it all year, it was as plain as day.

Why is everyone so damn riled up like this team is some world beating squad that failed miserably.

We had a great run, ended up a national seed. Does anyone have any joy in watching the team develop and making a decent little run at the end?

What about our lack of pitching clout?

Oh wait, Javi doesn't coach the pitchers. Nevermind.

ETA: But seriously, I think all around we were just playing way over our heads the last 2 weekends and a few other times throughout the year. Greatly decimated lineup and a really thin bullpen.

You have to give credit to our coaches for having us in the position to get a top 8 seed.

I am still glad that we are SEC tourney champions. At least one of three goals accomplished this season.

Before NWST/Auburn week, I didn't think we'd make it out of a regional, a regional we would travel for.

That late run reminded me of how MSState got hot at the end last year, and I thought we may have a chance. Then I remembered that all CPM does is win SECT championships, but that only goes so far.

So all in all I thought they got to where they would originally get to.

pulling a pitcher who has a 2 hit shutout after 6 innings is why we lost, bottom line

Someone was definitely impressed with PM's management of Sunday's game.

I think most teams need some offense to cover for Sunday pitching, we ended the season with a pretty damn good rotation.

you are right, we should lower our goals even more and just say we hope our teams have fun and grow during the season. its bad enough joe says we should just be in the kinda hunt for a title.

That is completely ridiculous! If the greatest college baseball coach alive could see it then you think it should be plain as day obvious to everyone?

Ok, if that is what you got out of it.

And if titles are the ONLY way you know to judge sports and baseball in particular, or if they are the only thing that brings you satisfaction as a fan of LSU, or any team for that matter...well, you are going to be miserable more times than not.

not on opening night, we don't watch practice or are around the program, but if you thought we were performing well offensively this season...you were in a small crowd.

If we lose to Southeastern Friday night, I could have accepted losing the regional a lot better. The way Sunday ended is what sucks so bad.

I don't think that interview was opening night, I think it was during the ULL game.

it was early in the season, and it was at the Box. I may be wrong about the timing.

The obvious answer is that the team actually started swinging the bat significantly better than the beginning of the year.

And, It was not the lack of offense that ended the year.

The Golden Age (1986-2000) of LSU baseball under Skip Bertman created 5 national titles and about 12 appearances in Omaha.

Expectations will always be a part of the baseball program. Parity is real and recruiting efforts are tempered by the Amateur Draft .

With more universities spending money on baseball , the talent level gets spread out over the country. And the way the game is played now gives lesser programs a chance to be competitive in a game. Instead if losing a game 14-2 , a team may lose 5-2.

Just have to accept that going to Omaha 1/3 if the time might be more realistic for any top 15 program now. Paul has been 3 times in eight years. That might be as good as it gets these days.
