Further proof that the left side isn't looking pretty. Brad Davis is clueless defensively and outside of set pieces and a lucky touch here and there, clueless on offense.

Chandler is way out of position here as well but my question is who is suppoed to cover Inan there because Jones stepped up to Erkin.

Let me get it out the way, would be nice to have Landon on that left side, he'd cover back defensively.

I know Davis and Zusi switched at one point, but I wonder why he kept wondering in the middle. He also look like a complete fool the one time he tried to use his right foot.

What the frick kind of positioning is that, and why the hell is Davis on the wrong side of the field? And WTF is Chandler doing?

Classic left side chaos. Bedoya will start which makes me feel better though.

What's even worse is that this is 7 fricking minutes into the game.

That first half was some of the worst defensive play I've ever seen in any soccer at any level. That picture of a perfect example but the scarier thing is you could probably find several others just as bad.

I think Chandler stepped up expecting Davis to have his back. I rather enjoyed watching the chase down by Chandler though. His recovery speed was fantastic. The next friendly and closed door exhibition will be key in his progress at LB. Guess is he and DMB split the 90 in the next friendly.

That was definitely a bad sequence and not the only time we were out of position on the left side, but Davis is the one I'm worried about. Hopefully that's a non-issue with Bedoya or Zusi actually starting at LM in the Cup.

For the most part and excluding his mental error at the end of the match, Chandler looked very capable. I think he and the whole defense (including Jones) took awhile to get an understanding with each other, and I think Davis didn't do his part.

Chandler also provided more going forward than I realized watching it live. We actually had a few attacks down the left side because of him and despite basically not playing with a LM.
That is what sets him apart from Beasley IMO. Of course Beasley could provide in the attack if he chose to go forward, but it seems like he mostly just stops at the halfway line and passes backwards.

None of it is "scary", for one thing. It's something to work on, but at this point at least we have the personnel to make it work in the back line. And I don't think you could find several others "just as bad", if that's the one I'm thinking of.

Beasley will start. He's been solid.

Chandler didn't have a good game IMO. He was caught sleeping quite often, and got lazy toward the latter stages of the match.

This is Davis' fault IMO. That is his man that was constantly wide open.

Can't we relegate Deuce to LM, sit Bedoya, and start Bacon up top with Jozy.

I think that is something we do if we are chasing a game and need a goal, but doubtful we start out that way.

You realize how fricked we would be on the left side when Chandler/Beasley push up on the attack?

Deuce isn't even going to pretend to track back.

Beasley rarely goes forward in attack. He picks his chances for sure, but they are few and far b/w.
