As a new Wii U owner, I'm not really sure what games I should be looking for on the horizon.

Summer 2014
Bayonetta 2

Q4 2014
Super Smash Brothers
Sonic Boom for the casual play
Watchdogs
Project CARS

TBD
The Legend of Zelda
X

What else are y'all looking forward to?

Super Smash Brothers - Q4 2014

Are they going to nail down a date for this game at E3? I got an email from Nintendo saying that it would be playable at best buy on the Wii U on 6/11 & 6/14. Surely that's a sign it will be before Q4.

ETA: I ran across this yesterday and didn't know if this was widely known among Wii U owners. I've had one since near launch and just found it. Wii U Promotion Basically you get $5 for every 500 pts you get from purchases on the eShop. I already had nearly $10 worth the first time I logged in.

X - LINK

Bayonetta 2 - Summer 2014
Sonic Boom for the casual play - Fall 2014
Watchdogs if you aren't getting it for something else - Fall 2014
Rumors of CoD Advanced Warfare out there as well - Fall 2014
Project CARS - Winter 2014/TBD

E3 might have some surprises. Zelda is a lock to be shown, people think Gamecube VC games are coming and there's a chance at a Mario game. ANd Retro's unannounced title (Metroid Prime devs)

I also wouldn't be afraid to go backwards...

Wonderful 101 is fantastic. Rayman Legends is a better platformer than NSMB imo. Need for Speed was actually best on the Wii U. I haven't played it, but I'm pretty sure Donkey King TF is very very good.

In preparation for X and if you like RPGs, find a copy of Xenoblade for the Wii. You can play it on the Wii U and it's magnificent.

As long as they give me a Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Donkey Kong Country type game every once if a while, I will be happy. I would never want to play a game like Watchdogs or CoD on the Wii U.

If you like that approach, I HIGHLY recommend Wonderful 101 (best use of the gamepad outside of Nintendoland - which is also fantastic), Rayman Legends, Lego City Undercover - Those are the best Nintendo experiences, not from Nintendo.

Wonderful 101 was a Nintendo published game though it was developed by Platinum.

Nintendo will also be the publisher for Bayonetta 2 by Platinum.

Right now they are somewhere between being a 3rd party and 2nd party developer for Nintendo as I don't think they currently have any other projects for other publishers set up.

We can only hope. I think August or November are most likely. Nintendo loves Thanksgiving releases for their games, that makes me worry a bit. And since the 3DS version is July, I really hope they only delay the WiiU by a month at most.

In that case, probably October.

Funding, sure. Or I should say, best non-Nintendo franchise games that are most like Nintendo

I wish they would just buy them and make them third party honestly, next to Retro they are one of Nintendo's best outside of 1st party.

Wii Sports Club Golf is soooo good, for the most part. I literally can't believe the 3DS was a better choice for a new Mario Golf Title.

It's pretty annoying how those N64 games were so good (and Strikers on the Gamecube) and we haven't seen a real one since on a major console. They became the Olympic games, which are fun, but extremely shallow. Mario Golf and Tennis were deep games actually.

I know what you are saying, but Retro is 1st party.
