To me this single decision changed the rest of the game and the game today. I know this sounds irrational and stupid but think about it for a bit. It burned our bullpen Sunday where we gave up the lead for us to have no bullpen for Monday. This put the wind back in their sails cause they had no shot touching him for the first 6 innings with only 62 pitches!

People make tons of stupid claims on this board and many of you will regard this as one of em but Maineri cost us big time by pulling Bouman. Nobody would have wasted their time at the Box Monday night.

How many times did Houston have a guy throw 160 pitches in one weekend?

Bouman only threw what, 70 pitches? And was doing great? Why not let him go one more inning?

It was just over management by Mainieri and it possibly cost us a super regional

No because no one in the media has asked him.

Thank you Cap Crunch. I am always scared when Maineri explains that he is "just trying to get guys some work." If it ain't broke why fix it?

70 pitches?

62 pitches, 2 hits, 4 base runners in 6 innings. If you were concerned, at least let him give up a hit/walk to start the 7th. The move was ridiculous and the only reason the 8th inning explosion didn't happen in the 7th is Houston power bunted a ball to first base for an easy double play. Atrocious call that cost LSU the season.

Taking Bouman out wasn't as bad a decisions as not putting Broussard in for the 8th inning.

He pitched the 9th, 10th and 11th - got 12 outs and gave up 1 run.

If he pitches the 8th and 9th, there is no way LSU loses!

I will never understand that decision.

You "get work" against SLU not a top 10 powerhouse team.
I knew this was a good team - You can't do stupid crap like that and expect to win. It's right up there with the Miles clock mgt issues.

Yup. Didn't get that one. Put him in the 8th with 1 out and runners at 2nd and 3rd with a 2 run lead.

Also Poche could have gone on 3 days rest - not ideal but it has been done several times esp with season on the line. Nola wasnt a possibility. I just dont think Paul has a strong will to win - also take into account the poor base running - it all boils down to bad coaching - have to start at the top - it's Paul and it always has been - he was lucky in '09 and news flash - nobody really cares about SEC Tourney.

2 days rest. And no, that would've been stupid.

Pitched Friday night
Sat - 1 day
Sun - 2 days
Mon - 3 days
Game played Monday night
It's 72 hours

Like I said - not ideal but do-able late in the year once or twice.
Actually Laxton pitched on 2 days rest in National Championship game one year - that was really dumb.

Sorry pitched during the day Friday - over 3 days rest - def do-able - It was our only option to win today after dumb game 6 decisions.
