Every team does it now. Catcher from UH even nailed Laird at 1st base. Forget if it was a bad call or not.... Point is we need to relax on the damn base paths.

Teams are absolutely looking for it and when they can start throwing behind you with this much success, you would think Paul M. would sit the team down and tell them to absolutely play it safe.

For example, McMullen's double was smart base running. He could have tried to make it to 3rd and it would have been bang/bang play but why try it. Then, Mr. maurepas got nailed at 2nd in the 1st game.... This base running shite will cost us guys.

If we can see it, how can our $1M dollar per year coach not adjust?

Send Coach PM an email on the issue so that he knows what to tell them.

It's a good observation. All I know is, our base running is bad.

Every catcher looks for it. Throwing behind would be the outfielder going straight for 1st to get him rounding the base.

Why would we forget if it was a bad call? He was safe and the ump blew it

How is this an example of throwing behind the baserunner?

We faced a good catcher yesterday. Our baserunning "mistakes" mostly came due to the batter yesterday

I agree, we need to tell the runners to stop on each base and wait for further instructions...

We were very aggressive yesterday and it bit us in a few situations.

It wasn't too aggressive when Laird took 2nd on a fly ball. We also held at least one runner at 3rd on a single with RISP.

They were trying to put pressure on the defense and UH was up to the challenge as they have a great defensive catcher. They will learn and respond.

With 1 or 2 outs we are running on first or second pitch everytime. Very predictable. Shouldn't we let the batter try to work the count sometimes and steal on a later pitch in the at bat?

It's like automatic - runner on 1st 2 outs, steal first pitch no variation

I'll take CPM way of playing, aggressive. It got us to this point in the season, you know a #8 national seed.

Thanks captain obvious. I'm sure our million dollar coach has never addressed poor base running. You might just be the savior of our season and give us push needed to be champions.

Laird got back in time but was blocked from touching the bag before the tag. That's how I saw it

LSU teams have been atrocious on the base paths since CPM got here.

Winning doesn't change that fact.

The players have looked very competitive lately, and are playing aggressively both at the plate and on the bases.

Aggressive base running = good

Situational awareness could use some work, but I'm not complaining as long as it's due to them competing hard. They're on a tear right now, and if a few mistakes on the bases is the byproduct of intensity, I'm OK with it. Just hope they overcome the mistakes in important situations with continued focused intensity elsewhere.
