Looking for oxfords (most interested in wingtips) that will look good with a navy suit and a suit in this color

Should I be looking at dark brown, tan, dark tan, burgandy?

Think half the cost of AE or under.

No worries. The color is most important for the thread. I've seen a bunch of slight color variations and can't decide which would work best with the two colors.

Those shoes are though

Burgundy will be your most versatile option. It isn't too stiff but you'll be able to wear it in all but the most formal settings w/ navy.

You can get Nordstrom house brand for about 200 bucks, I think, which is generally a decent option. Don't get Cole Haan. If you can find Florsheim Imperials they're still pretty good.

But I would email shoebank@allenedmonds.com and ask what they have in your size and color in wingtips. These are factory seconds, and will probably save you about 100 or more off retail.

Love McTavish but FWIW, those are casual shoes. If you're not in formal environments often, that works, but probably not something I'd wear with a navy suit in a business setting (I definitely wouldn't, actually).

I'd go with something simple like these...I think light brown looks the best...but of course, not with the belt shown in OP

You can usually find some Steve Maddens pretty cheap.

What about the Florsheim Castellano? And would light tan would work as well as burgandy? I really like that color.

Tan does work but it's a bold choice, especially with navy. If the light tan gets to almost an off white color, I'd nix it. You need at least a little darkness to work with the gray and navy.

The trend is certainly toward walnuts and similar colors with navy or gray, and I like it. But, if you don't have other shoes to wear with these suits, IMO it'll be somewhat limiting.

The Florsheim Castellano looks ok, I don't know about quality. I will say that if you end up getting multiple pairs (recommended), I'd go cheaper on darker and more expensive on lighter if need be. That Saddle Tan is dark enough, IMO, to work for both, but note that it'd still be too informal for a business setting. Could you get by with it? Probably.

Some sizes are 150 at Nordstrom.com right now. Don't know much about it, I'm just poking around looking for deals out of boredom.

It's a new world, boys. I'm on the more conservative side, but even I don't wear black unless absolutely necessary. Much prefer dark brown/burgundy with gray and navy.

Do you like the color of the belt against those pants...? Would be a good starting point if you do.

:kige:

Black looks like shite.

I'd go with a walnut color. If that's too flashy for you, then I'd consider a burgandy or dark brown. I really like burgandy with navy for more formal occasions.
