Do you live in Austin now? If not, then let me know the next time you're in.

Has LA ever had a 'cane hit after a cold wave came through? I've always felt safe once that first cold front moves through and the lows dip into the 50s.

Hurricane Lili in 02 maybe. That bitch was a rape train heading right for LA but got crushed by some shear at the last minute.

Also, the models have been wanting to spin up something in the Gulf. This will be something to watch next week, since it seems a bit more legit than the parade of false alarms that the GFS has been spitting out.

it's really interesting that all the models resolve it but none of them give any indication as to what it might do.

93L has been designated in the BoC. At this time, it doesn't look like it has much chance of doing anything but a solution like today's 12z GFS is something to keep an eye out for.

The Atlantic season is basically over and it has now been 3,300ish days since a major hurricane has struck the US mainland and 9 years since a hurricane has struck Florida. Good times for sure

The WPAC is still going strong and cranked out Super Typhoon Nuri this past week:

One of the interesting things with Nuri is that it is forecasted to become one of the strongest extratropical systems ever w/ wave heights forecasted to be well over 50 ft!

Whatever the Atlantic lacked this year, the Pacific sure made up for and fired up some big ones this season.

Bound to be some type of El Niño-like explanation for this.

Yeah even though el nino was never declared and now forecast to be much weaker, there was definitely nino conditions out there across parts of the basin this year. The gulf and Caribbean were grave yards.
