Why is getting a cool car in your 40's considered "mid life crisis"?

I'm not talking about getting hair plugs and a miata but like a legit sports car or a jeep.

For me, I've always wanted a jeep and never had the money to get one. Now that I've got two in diapers it'll be 5-10 years til I can get one putting me at that mid life crisis point. But it's something i am and have been planning on.

What say you, ot?

Shouldn't be. At that point you should be making the money to get the car you have always wanted.

It depends what a "cool" car is. A 2013 cherry red camero screams mid life crisis. A classic car would understandable though.

A middle aged man buying a Harley is definitely a mid life crisis

Because by the time you're in your forties you should be old enough and mature enough to know blowing money on a car that you thought was cool when you were a kid isn't necessarily the wise thing to do.

Of course if the car gets you laid by women half your age then it's totally the wise thing to do.

That's all it took for me. Decided it was time while I could still climb into it. Good decision for me, still have it 12 years later.
Go for it and screw the haters.

Yeah cause everyone in their mid 20s to 30s can afford to have a car/truck and a Harley

yes sir, I bought a bad arse whip when I was 32, single, just got a raise that doubled my salary, only debt was a small house note, paid cash for it, the girl I was dating termed it a mid life crisis, 23 year old count, didn't last long

If you're that dedicated to be an assless chapped Harley rider, you'll find a way.

Everyone on here is a mechanical engineer for internationally known engineering firms. They make their first million by age 28.

Nah, that is a corvette! I don't think a $30,000 qualifies unless.....t has racing stripes of course!

Why is it blowing money? I've always wanted two German cars. A very large German Sedan and a very high performance sports car. Today I have both because I've worked my arse off and at this stage in my life I can afford them. (and for the record they both were bought used-I'm not stupid as they are not my primary vehicles)

Do whatever you like and who gives a shite what anyone else thinks.

Actually I don't think people in those jobs would make that much by that age so try again!
