Intel Haswell-E processors detailed

The Intel Haswell-E processor lineup would include three SKUs, the Core i7-5960X, Core i7-5930K and Core i7-5820K. All processors are built on the 22nm Haswell architecture which means that they will improve the IPC performance while keeping the same power limits as previous generation processors due to enhanced power efficiency of the Haswell microarchitecture.
quote:
Just like Haswell and Ivy Bridge-E before it, Haswell-E would retain the great overclocking features that would ship with the “K” series and “Extreme Edition” processors. Both the memory and processor can be overclocked beyond limits with unlocked turbo limits, unlocked core ratios in 80/100 increments, programmable iVR voltage, support for XMP mode, unlocked memory controller and voltage limits, native support for memory upto 2667 MHz, Unlocked PCH and PLL voltage controls and more. A single Haswell-E processor would feature 2 x16 and 3 x8 Gen 3 PCI-e support with 40 lanes and would be directly connected to the DDR4 memory controller and the Wellsburg X99 chipset.

Now this I can fap to
And that's about all I'll be able to do unless a customer requests a build like this. $1,000+ for the 8-core I'm sure, plus at least $300 for a decent advanced overclocking motherboard, plus a premium for a quad-channel DDR4 kit.

lol@this thread. Maybe 10 people here know that Haswell-e will be a CPU, much less understand the specs.

You don't need to spend $300 on a board man.

And they weren't the ones bitching for a 'tech board'.

I know the next Mac Pro will probably have these in them.

bullshite. You can't touch a now mid-range socket 2011 board for less than $300.

But really, for the X-series chipsets, you do, IF you know what you're paying for.

Yeah I guess that is fair to say for the extreme overclocker.

I thought you were alluding to the multi-page Tom argument in the PC thread, where he was spending $300 for a now-last-gen Z platform board.

I forgot about that

Not the ones in the OP.
It will have Haswell architecture but it will be a mobile processor.

I was pissed I had to pay $100 for a Z77 board but eBay was the only place I could find a new ITX mobo.

You think I'm talking about MacBook Pros. I'm talking about the Mac Pro.
ETA: Macbook Pros already have Haswell chips. Mac Pros run Xeon E5 chips.

I honestly had no idea Apple still made desktops.

The $4,000 trashcan ones will at least have the 6+ core Xeons.

I see iMacs in just about every TV show I watch.

I said 'probably' because apple may decide to not update them until Broadwell because, well, Apple.

I'm guessing it will have to go under water if want to OC very much.
