Worms in speckled trout

So I was cleaning our catch from this morning and noticed what looked like to be some sort of parasite in the filet just under the dorsal fin. It's long and white and something I don't think I've ever seen or surely noticed. What's the deal with this? Chunk the fish? Fry em up? What y'all think?

Cut it out. Parasite found in specs during warm months.

Thanks. After some google searching, here's some more info I found. They are in fact spaghetti worms.
They'll eat!
quote:
The number of trout carrying worms seems to be directly related to the characteristics and quality of the water in which the trout live. In general, the saltier the water and the less polluted it is, the higher the levels of infection are. This may be due to either one of the intermediate host’s or the larval worm’s needs for saline, unpolluted waters.
quote:
Many people don’t even bother to remove them before cooking. After cooking, they are unnoticeable and cannot be tasted. In a survey conducted at Mississippi fishing rodeos a few years ago, less than 25% of the trout fishermen avoided eating fish with worms. While cooking does, of course, kill the worm, even without cooking they are not a human health problem. No human infections have been recorded and researchers have been unable to infect warm-blooded animals with the parasite.

I ain't eating that shite. I noticed them the first time about 13 years ago and they became crab food. Love catching them but if they got worms they ain't getting eaten.

Y'all catch a bunch? We caught a couple, saw a boat at Cailou island loading up, but that was it.

I pretend I didn't see them.
If you know somebody who cares, challenge them to find one after it's cooked.

Damn near every trout I clean has these things, and I never take them out. They're fine.

Weird, I've cleaned a lot of trout and never really noticed. The only few that had it were the first fish caught this morning.

Could care less. They live in the fish. Eat nothing but fish. Fry at 350 and bet they disappear. Guy gave me about 5 lbs fresh speck fillets onetime after he sAw them. Just smiled, thanked him and went looking for da crisco.....

I've noticed them more in trout we catch in Cocodrie. First time I noticed them we were dividing up the filets and I asked my dad about them. His response saying "I'll take them if you don't want them" told me all I needed to know. I'll see if I can find a pic of a huge one I pulled out that looked like a sperm

I cleaned 65 trout this morning and about a dozen or so had worms. Sometimes I pick them out if they are large but I mostly ignore them. You will never see ethem in the filet once cooked, whether fried, baked, or broiled.

My dad likes the Lake P trout because they rarely have worms.
Spinoff, do yall actually eat drum? They are gross to me.
