As I seem to recall, he flipped and was helping the Justice Dept. with their case. The local US Attorney failed to provide the protection Seal was expecting, thereby getting wacked at the Salvation Army on Airline.
After it happened, the US Attorney was transferred to a job in Washington DC until things blew over.
Seal was a ballsy guy, but who has a C-119 as a personal aircraft ?????

I'd say a judge forcing him to live at the Salvation Army was pretty much a death sentence for ole Barry.

Is Reloaded the same but with additional footage?

Square Grouper looks interesting. May have to watch.

He was marked for death when Reagan held a televised press conference showing photos of the drug lord passing bags of coke that could have only come from hidden cameras on Barry's plane.

more than that, he was a huge potential liability to the Reagan/Bush admin for what he could reveal about the Iran/Contra affair, of course the judges ruling could have been a "trickle down(pun for you young'ns,)" order too

I don't think anybody knew who Seal worked for. I think the C119 that he had in the channel 2 interview in the 80's was shot down during the Sandinista/ Contra deal in central america. CIA owned no doubt. He was a gifted pilot though. Youngest international route captain in TWA at 28-30.

This isn't info pertaining to the OP's question but there is a secret landing strip tucked away off of Summerfield Rd in Prairieville on the Amite River that Seal used to bring in the coke. It just sits there and probably will never to used again. Just think that's pretty cool

I heard he was also in the Civil Air Patrol as a teenager with Lee Harvey Oswald.

But I always thought that was just an urban legend.

It's Cocaine Cowboys extended cut. It seems like what got left on the cutting room floor after editing the first film. Goes into greater detail with Jon Roberts, Mermelstein, Munday, Rivi, and legal and law enforcement perspectives through interviews with each and the cops/lawyers involved.

I'd say if you like the first film the best then this would definitely be in your wheelhouse. Far greater details and interviews. Watched it over the last three nights and I'll have to watch it again.

Roberts and Mermelstein are dead, but Munday's still out there and he seems genuinely remorseful...

not that it's relevant to the thread, but I have my doubts about that, TWA was always an old stagnant airline, always on the verge of going broke, barely getting through the winter, and getting saved by vacation fares each year, and perpetually laying people off, which is what happened to Seal, and may have accelerated him towards his new profession
ETA: plus, he had already been furloughed by that age

So you got a big arse plane taking guns & ammo to Central America that had clearance to fly back to do it all over again.

Loading it with drugs for the return trip was a brilliant, ballsy move.

All of that was part of his work with the CIA, period.

IF he was involved with JFK, that was also part of his work with the CIA.

Barry Seal never stopped working for the CIA - is what I'm saying.

Double Crossed was the move that I rented years ago at blockbuster. It was the move that showed how he flipped to the CIA to getting gunned down. In one scene of the movie he had his big plane loaded down with so much coke he turned and looked at the camera and said, “I am scared that I have so much weight I won’t be able to climb fast enough to get over those mountains” when he had his plane rigged with all the cameras the cameras were so loud he had to run the planes engines so they would not hear the cameras. that was when he got the pictures of the cartel leaders loading his plane..

Badass movie. worth the watch. “Double crossed”!

Then why did they cut him loose to be gunned down at a homeless shelter?
