quote:

“On the field, he’s exciting. And he’s the X-factor,” veteran goalkeeper Tim Howard said of Green, the 18-year-old German-American winger from Bayern Munich. “And every team has an X-factor. You have to have it, it’s good. It’s a surprise. If we think we can use Julian in a moment and he can get a goal, then it’s all worth it.”
quote:

“He’s a good player,” midfielder Jermaine Jones said. “I think he will show the people that he’s a good player, and he’s already showed that in some training sessions.”
quote:

Added midfielder Michael Bradley: “He’s a talented kid. He’s a guy who, whether he’s tilted off to the left or tilted off to the right in attacking positions, he’s able to go at defenders and get shots off. It’s exciting to have a young guy like that in the team.”

Those positive comments are uplifting, but nothing will matter unless he does something against Ghana, republic of Ronaldo, or Deutschland

He's still really damn young...

He has a bright future with the squad, but I don't think he should be relied on to do everything this summer

I'm so excited for the Azerbaijan friendly next week. For Green and for the potential breaking of the internet if an Azerbaijan defender injures somebody.

This gave me a good chuckle.

As much as I want to jump on the "Julian Green is Savior" wagon, I've seen too many "saviors" fizzle out. Not saying I won't support him, but I'm reserving judgment before I look like a fool again.

It's clearly true, because in my world, Tim Howard is always right.

The quotes are encouraging but I would suspect them to only have good things to say about him especially in training.

He's a guy who definitely needs to get involved in the friendlies if Jurgen wants him to see any time in Brazil.

And with that, you are welcomed into my cult of followers.

Regarding Green - who the hell knows? I saw his 90 second Champions League cameo. I don't think he touched the ball. In his appearance against Mexico, he only had a couple of real possessions. He didn't do anything exceptional - nothing that a Justin Mapp or Lee Nguyen can't do. But those are REALLY small sample sizes.

Hopefully he plays some substantial time in the friendlies, and we can see what he's about.

Age doesn't deter me that much. Not saying Green is on the same level but Adnan Januzaj is 19 and I would take him on our team in a second.

Lets just hope he lives up to his potential.

Agreed - but Januzaj made a ton of appearances for Man U this year. That's another planet from the German 4th division.

Yep, I do not trust an 18 year old to do anything except look good in our warmup clothes. I hope he ends being great, but the x-factor German American is much more likely to be Chandler or Jones (someone who will almost assuredly see the pitch).
