The talent at DB compared to 3-4 years ago is astounding.

Everyone was real excited about Tracy Porter.

And all he did was one of the two most important plays in Saints history.

And never really developed beyond. I could tell after the 10 season that he wasn't the long term answer at CB. Besides his being injured often, he bit too much on routes, wasn't very adept at covering deep routes, had poor technique, sub par tackler etc.

I'm not disputing that he was average, but you're not going to have 4 probowl CBs on your roster. With the pass rush we have, if Jean-Baptiste ends up above average and end up as the 1 or 2 we'll be fine. Better than fine if he somehow unseats Lewis as the 1.

I'm just saying that we were excited about him, and now he might not even make the roster.

You guys are a lot more hopeful about SJB than I am. I just don't see it.

Our secondary coach did a bang up job last year.

Who would you cut for him? I wouldn't even cut Sweeting for Porter.

I don't even get why this came up concerning TP?
He was barely making a team last year. We talked a bit last year about bringing him in as a 3-5 CB but the guys injuries has really almost ended his career.
And no, with our depth at DB he couldn't even make the PS.

Concerning the article you can see a very strong leader in Lewis. One of the best FA pick ups we've had.

Suck it pitt!

Porter started 16 games for Oakland last year and had a good season. Saying you wouldn't take him over Sweating is silly. Hell Wade got more playing time than Sweeting last year and neither got much. Porter would have at least challenged White.

Not really. Started 16 games, had 2 picks(one for a td), 12 deflections, 1.5 sacks, and 67 tackles. Sounds like a good year to me.
