Why doesn't the Dude like the Eagles?

I love the movie "The Big Lebowski", but one thing I've never understood about the Dude is why he hates the "Effing Eagles"? The Eagles play a laid-back country rock style, which seems to fit the Dude's personal style. I wonder what the Dude doesn't like about the Eagles? What do y'all think?

I can't completely write off any band with Joe Walsh in it. I properly hate their heluim-voiced fluffrock, and Henley's drumkit sounded like a set of U-Haul boxes - but there were a few gems in there.

Because they were, as far as I can tell, the opposite of CCR in the same genre. He was a CCR fan.

Hey, say what y'all want about the Eagles, but you can't deny the greatness of a song like "Hotel California". The song is melodic and mysterious, and is definitely a classic rock legendary song. To the guy who said the Eagles were the Nickelback of the 70's, I wouldn't be that harsh man... Don Henley and Glenn Frey are much better singers than Chad Kroeger and the Eagles songs aren't just about sex and cookie cutter lyrics like Nickelback.

Walsh spent little time with them. He was a prime participant in their masterpiece, and made beaucoups dinero in that tremendously commercial success that was the abortion which followed.

Sure I can, if I never hear that pretentious tripe again I'll be content. And I thought it was great when the album came out but then I payed attention to it. Zevon has a far better song with the same theme - Desperados Under the Eaves.
And for the record I really don't hate the Eagles. They are the cool band to hate which is silly and Lebowski probably contributed to a great deal. Kind of like the Food board where hating the Olive Garden is the cool thing. It's easy to hate something that really is terrible. It's far cooler to hate something that is decent in some ways.

Early EARLY 90's before I found Seattle and Pearl Jam I had a big Eagles kick. Nickelback??? No way?
I cannot imagine people discussing Nickelback in 20 years to the point of documentaries. HBO or Showtime I think had one on recently. It was a revelation for me. Not the Eagles. But the fact that Linda Ronstadt was actually hot back when she was a top bar act??? I was shocked. "It" moved a little.
