Both Diego Costa and Arda Turán trained with Atlético today.

Still haven´t found anything on Pepe.

I think this is a ruse by Simeone, to be honest.

This final has it´s own ball. Adidas says it´s rounder or better maintains it´s shape, and doesn´t flutter or fade in flight.

Atleti´s strip has Luís Aragonéses name on it.

BAWMP

Yeah, I know. El gringuito calvo got hosed by der baton allemagne, but the sun will come out tomorrow.

Anyway, on to pressing items. Specifically, two of the top teams from the world´s top league square off to claim the 2014 champion´s league title.

Pepe still highly doubtful, Benzema was to have a test today (to see if he can start tomorrow).

Diego Costa supposedly to play, but again, this looks like a ruse by Simeone. Why would he jeopardize his WC appearances?

Because it's a Champions League final?

Not everyone punks out like Oscar.

Supposedly a micro tear (already aggravated, as this has been going on for probably five weeks or so) needs two complete days of being immobile, and at least six weeks of inactivity.

He´s tried and ´popped´ it last week, and once or twice in the previous month.

I don´t think a smear of equine placenta has him ready for the final.

Can't wait to go into an information coma tomorrow. Hopefully, I can avoid the result until I get to a DVR

If there's anything that Diego Costa is not, it's a bitch

Diego Costa has surprised one and all by going through his paces, including various shuttle runs, at the Atlético Madrid training session, despite having limped off at the Camp Nou only six days ago.

Cholo Simeone spoke about injured duo Costa and Arda Turan to the press, and said they would see how the pair develop of the next 24 hours. "It's up to how they feel and what they doctors say".

The Argentine coach also admitted he does have a plan B ready should his star men not recover.

I'm going to be pissed if he plays and then can't play in the wc because he wasn't really ready.

I'm so stressed for tomorrow.

I don't like the guy. Chelsea is linked with him everywhere. But as you said, of all adjectives to describe him, bitch isn't one.

Beautiful Piece by Relaño

[quote]
This isn´t the match of the century, that was England-Hungary 1953, in Wembley. But this is the derby of two centuries, the 20th and if I may be so bold, the 21st.

This is a derby for three or more generations. The club that wins will have a treasure to cherish and defend, for all disputes until the end of the world.

´Right, but in Lisbon, we beat you´ is the reply that either could reply with, in any discussion.

It is an enormous match, nobody could have seen it coming, which supplants the eternal Madrid-Barça which we all thought could have been the final of this Champions League.

Well no, it´s not Barça. It´s Atleti. It´s also Madrid, who´s always there. It´s not easy to overcome Real Madrid. This is why they´ve got so many fans, and also why there exists so much ´anti-Madridismo´.

Almost always when another Spanish club is in conditions to win the title of their dreams, they run into Real Madrid, a club which has rested very little in it´s history.

Sporting de Gijón clashed with Madrid, as did later Real Sociedad, which had to insist, in order to take Madrid down. Deportivo de la Coruña gave Real a black eye with the ´Centenariazo´. Barça had to fight an obstinate Madrid, and although they prevailed, they ended up spent...

Now, Atlético de Madrid, that so admired Atleti, loved in all of Spain, as President Cerezo rightly says, doesn´t conform themselves with their league title (having triumphed over the Madrid and Barça of Cristiano and Messi).

Now, Atleti has to revalidate themselves in this final. Throw down the ace of spades saying ´the pot´s mine´and promptly pull all the chips from the centre of the table.

La Liga is the grandest, but there is one great league accomplishment every year for some Spanish side. The Champions League is something else.

For Real Madrid, this could be La Décima, nothing less. An infathomable coup of time immemorial dimensions.

For Atleti, this would be the First, but it would be worth ten..............[quote]

ETA There´ll never be a city derby again. it´s the CL story of the century. ETA2 Read Relaño´s article, I translated it earlier (functional, not proper). Damned good stuff. Match of the century.
