The people that think Obama can do no wrong and if you think otherwise, you are a racist? Yeah the Tea Party is no different.

They could have video of Chris McDaniel himself authorizing this breakin of a nursing home and they would still defend that trash. Now the chairman of the Mississippi Tea Party has been arrested in conjunction with this.

I don't believe McDaniel personally authorized it, but I believe people close to him did. Hopefully this kills the tea party.

Because that's what the Tea Party is all about. Filming Alzheimer's patients in Nursing Homes.

Got it.

The problem is that the TP uses really strong rhetoric (much of it for good reason) and tries to make every choice a distinction between paradise and eternal damnation. I don't want to call them extremists, but they do use a lot of polarization tactics both to criticize enemies and motivate followers.

Some of the followers, like in any organization, aren't too bright or lack the ability to make reasonable choices. And thus, you have people who are going to pick up the flag and run with it, and you can't always predict where they're going to end up (with your flag, no doubt).

It's not a unique issue to the Tea Party, but it does cause some problems.

Did McDaniel find out about it via the news or on TD PB ?

If yes, then he'd at least have that in common with Obama.

I know politics is dirty, but I just can't fathom why someone would think it would be a good idea to film an opponent's wife in a nursing home. What was the motivation for that?

I'm only speculating but I think the Tea Party was planning to do an attack on Cochran for his infidelity and they wanted to show a picture of Mrs. Rose in the state that she's in. She's in bad shape.

Hey look at this scumbag cheating on his wife while she lays in a nursing home

People were trying to get a scoop on Thad cheating on his wife with a staffer. My best guess is that some idiots thought it would make a great ad if they could get video of Thad cozying up to the other woman and then flash to a video of his incapacitated wife.

Did the Tea Party read about it on Drudge like Barry does?

Likening the Tea Party to the Obama experiment is way off base IMO

Is it true that Thad's lawyers knew about all of this and waited to take it down until the election was closer?

This is some messed up stuff. Apparently, a fairly well respected attorney has been arrested today.

Also, Butler Snow, the preeminent GOP law firm in Mississippi (Trent Lott and Haley Barbour are members and Phil Bryant's daughter is an associate) knew about the video and sat on it for TWO WEEKS before disclosing it. Don Clark is Thad's attorney and the head of the firm. The rumor is that he sat on it, in conjunction with Thad and his people, in order to release it closer to the election for maximum political gain.

So, it appears both camps are lying about the video, knowledge of the video, etc. Cochran's camp is trying to maximize this for his gain now.

The Tea Party has stepped on their dicks.

What an inbred boondoggle. Of note, the campaign chair for Thad Cochran is Senator Roger Wicker's son-in-law. He was the chief of staff for Phil Bryant before filling that post - and Phil Bryant used to fashion himself as the 1st Tea Party Governor.

The District Attorney is now getting involved, apparently first insinuating that McDaniel was not involved and now backing off of that statement to say no one has been cleared.

I think this may be the dirtiest, most bizarre election I ever remember.

We see! Seems to be the main stay of your arguments.

That would have been the ultimate self sabotage of ANY candidate of ANY party at ANY level.

That doesn't even make sense in the reality of what happened. The guy made a video and posted it online. It had nothing to do with Thad cheating on his wife.

Had they ran an ad of any kind using a bedridden woman, the people in MS would have turned on McDaniel.

Right because people wanting fiscal responsibility out of Washington is such a terrible thing.

If you haven't figured it out yet, you are part of the problem.

Michael is a great DA and really good guy. We've known each other for years. If he backed off his comments then he is checking it out. He's a fair guy but he doesn't play either.

You obviously don't read both sides of the story or just ignore facts all together.

Dark - that was the entire reason for the video. Tea Party fed the Clarion-Ledger the front page story that Thad lives with his female staffer and takes her on every trip.

Meanwhile, his wife has been in a home for 14 years and Thad sees her infrequently since they are 1000 miles apart. Out of sight, out of mind.

This was to be the Tea Party's "rocket's red glare" moment. McDaniel's campaign manager was up all night when the first guy was arrested.

A SWAT team was sent to arrest the head of the MS Tea Party and seize all of his computers at office and home.

On their website, their are only 2 constant bloggers - McDaniel and the attorney. Now, one has been arrested. I wonder if his passport was taken?

Bye-bye Tea Party in this state.

I am convinced that his staff knew about this. The whole, "I barely knew Mark Mayfield" bullshite is laughable.
