Driving from BR through birmingham to chattanooga tomorrow. What's a good place to stop for barbecue along the way? Any good places that serve da white sawce?

In bham go to Saw's BBQ - there are 3 of them, all excellent. And they have da white sauce - just ask for it.

I second Saws in Birmingham. Get the smoked chicken wings. They put the sauce right on the wings so let them know if you want it on the side. Another good one is Miss Myra's in Bham.

Awesome. I just looked them up on urban spoon and it looks like just what I'm looking for

I have had Saw's a few times and have never been particularly impressed. Same with Jim and Nick's. I stick with Full Moon, it's consistent and always amazing.

Saw's is the way to go. Wings are amazing. Everything else is great too.

Big Bob just won Memphis in May. His bbq is pretty outstanding when I've had it.

Go to the Saw's Juke Joint instead of the BBQ location. Still has the same BBQ but is much bigger, has a bar, etc

The appeal of North AL is the white sauce. It's okay, I guess

Never tried it but I'm intrigued by it

Just... Uhh be aware it probably isn't what you think it is. I like white sauce, but it isn't always as savory as a 'traditional' tomato sauce, vinegar, or mustard sauce.

White Sauce with a good amount of black pepper and vinegar and not too much sugar, is pretty fantastic on bbq chicken

Noted. I'm not rerouting my trip for it. What about 'cue in east tenn, western North Carolina (Asheville area) or Kentucky?

Big Bob Gibsons. This is the only answer.

A good white sauce with enough vinegar is excellent.
I've had some 'flat' white bbq sauces before and when you have a poorly made white sauce it is *really* bad.
I went to Gibsons once and it was good, the sauce didn't have enough vinegar so it was just....meh.
I think I got a bad batch or something.
